I just saw this (it's apparently from a new special set after it), and only one question:

One Litre of Tears.

Yay? Or Nay? As in 'is it going to leave me a sobbing wreck a la Snow Queen?' And 'is it going to be worth it anyway, also a la Snow Queen?'

I mean, Ryo is very very pretty. And I love my angst. But is it too much to take in quick succession with another angstorama?

Of course, the jdrama I am watching next is Taiyou No Kisetsu but that one is no cheerfest either...

ETA: Just redug out this MV for it.

[Error: unknown template video]

I can't resist. Why does 'beautiful young girl is loved by hunky young man, dies' seems to be such a beloeed subgenre of drama? Because it works. Yay.

I'm told it's worththe angst(forgottenpolish said it might replsacesapuri as her fave jdrama, which is the equivalent of a second coming)

it also has Fujiki Naohito, which means it dwells somewhere in my list.

No, really, it is. I'm worried the debate between the 2 may angst her to death...

I was scolded anytime she was watching and I wasn't here to comfort her.

It's based on a true story of a girl with a terminal illness. The story is focused on how she comes to terms and deals with her illness. I'd say it's medium!angst, or at least that's how I took it; after all, I just came off the amazing family!angst!fest that was Karei Naru Ichizoku. But it will definitely induce tears as the title says.

Medium angst? Wow, you are a much much tougher cookie than me. The story sounds like it would make me dissolve into a weepy puddle. Really emo melodramas don't do this, but it sounds realistic enough to hit a nerve.

I really watch to watch KNI too...

I call it medium angst because the angst didn't hit me totally until the last fifteen when I was crying so hard for so long that snot was everywhere and my cheeks were itchy from constant crying. *laughs* As opposed to the angst of Karei Naru Ichizoku which was drawn out over an entire seventy minutes of the final episode and had me bawling for a good portion of it.

But you're not wrong about my tolerance. My friend watched Ichi Littoru no Namida and started crying not ten minutes into it. *laughs*

I think it is the most beautiful dorama I have ever watched. It did replace Sapuri as my favorite Jdorama, and Meteor Garden as my favorite dorama period.

It is sad, and I was teary for alot of it. But it gave me a lot of hope and inspired me very deeply. The end, though sad, left me with more a sense of hope and inspiration. I found myself smiling through my tears.

Aya and Haruto (Ryo's) relationship is amazing. And Ryo does a very excellent job. I was very impressed with his acting.

You have to see it. I couldn't recommend a dorama more strongly.

I do plan to see it, no matter what. I am sort of just worried to watch it so close to another awesome sad drama. I don't want to fall asleep weeping into my pillow... :)

YEA, MOUSIE.

ABSOLUTE YEA.

IT IS EMO. IT IS ANGSTY. BUT IT IS SO WELL DONE AND REALISTIC.

I just finished watching it a week ago (mini picspams with my general raving are over at my journal) and I can't stop talking about how much I love it. There is no possible way for this to end with sunshine and roses, and yet, it gets me way more than Kamisama mou sukoshi dake did. [livejournal.com profile] winterspel did a very thorough, excellent review here that is a lot more coherent than any of my general wailing and screencapping. Nishikido Ryo was always one of my favorite JE boys because he's very snarky and witty, but I had never seen him in any dramas before. He totally impressed me -- he's a terrific actor, very subtled, very nuanced, SO PRETTY.

Seriously, Mousie, it's SO GOOD.

Wow. Your enthusiasm is contagious. But the level of angst described sounds daunting (I wasn't too traumatized by Kamisama because it was sooo melodramatic but this sounds different). But yet so good...am so tempted.

And Ryo IS gorgeous.

Do not watch this after Snow Queen. I've hardly passed the half way mark on SQ and I am a sobbing mess. I remember a girl who was sitting next to me in commerce saying 'OMG. I saw an MV for 1 litre of tears and I started crying'. That's how fricking angsty and emo it is.
Nevertheless Ryo is cool and I'm sure it will be awesome like SQ is currently. I will watch it after watching some cracktastic TW drama (smiling pasta maybe?) so I don't drown in my own tears.

That's a really good idea. My attitude on this is exactly the same. I need some fluffy or even not-fluffy-but-happy-ending dramas in between my weepfests.

Yeah, 1 Litre of Tears is uber emo and that was the main reason why i hesitated to watch it at first. It was totally worth all the buckets of tears I cried for it though. It's just a beautifully sweet drama. It wasn't really angsty to me because it was the progress of her illness just laid out their from the start it was just heartbreaking to watch. I think the things she says in her diaries are really hopeful and sort of inspirational in a way. It's just amazing how hopeful she is given that she's just 15 years old and having to deal with a terminal illness. Ryo was amazing in it too! I can't wait for the SP!! The short preview you linked already got me teary.

So basically, check it out, just fortify self with fluff first? I can do that.

I know a lot of people who literally adore this drama but I can't bring myself to watch it. It's going to kill me with a title like that Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket.

1 Litre of Tears is one of those dramas I've resigned myself to watching eventually, just because I hear so much about it and I like Ryo. I guess it depends when I've watched enough fluff to be able to stomach it ;P.

i loved 1 litre of tears although it made me cry so much. i have a feeling i'm going to cry when i watch the special aswell :| it's a shame ryo isn't in more drama's because he's a really great actor.

one litre of tears was the first jdrama I watched! It was amazing. More touching than angsty (or are they the same thing?) It's definitely worth the tears. Watching the video reminds me of how much I loved it. It's more than just a 'beautiful young girl is loved by hunky young man, dies' show, you have to watch it!! Plus Sawajiri Erika is a great actress and Ryo is adorable.

I watched it together with my friend when it was airing, and for us it was the dorama with the truest title, since we spent each week crying a liter of tears. *laughs*

I'd recently finished watching this, and I must say, it is one of the best doramas I have seen. It took me three days to finish it, and my eyes were swollen from all the crying and sobbing. Just be prepared - stock up on the tissues. (But totally worth it!!!)

1 Litre of Tears is one of my favorite dramas, so I definitely recommend it. I will warn you that it's not so much "beautiful girl is loved by hunky young man, dies" as "beautiful girl dies slowly of degenerative disease but a bunch of people including a hunky young man support her on the way". It's not the typical doomed romance drama. It's very well done, though, so I recommend watching it, but possibly not until you've watched another happy series or two, because there's definitely a lot of angst, even if it tries to be insiprational.

I've been going back and forth on 1 Litre of Tears for months now. Everyone keeps talking about how its so good but so sad. I might have to give in though. If that MV is any indication, I'm going to be a bawling mess. Ahh, the things I endure for my dramas. Thats a seriously lovely MV though. Oh, I came with another rec. If you've never watched a Thai drama (or rather lakorn)may I suggest Oom Ruk. It was seriously all kinds of love!
