So basically, eight years ago, both Gwan Pil and Su Ho were in love with the violin girl? And she loved Su Ho (OMG, love that brief flashback in ep 9 in Gwan Pil’s mind, when he remembers another time he saw Su Ho kiss the girl he likes. Btw, young Su Ho=HOT).
And then somehow, Gwan Pil and Violin Girl left, we don’t know why. But my money is because Su Ho’s Noona had something to do with it? And Violin Girl was pregnant with Su Ho’s baby but he didn’t know it and he tracked them down finally only to see her pregnant and assume (not unreasonably) that the baby is GP’s and that is why they left???
And Gwan Pil has been taking care of her/protecting her all this time? (OMG, they are like Aamir and Kajol in Ishq, the only part of that movie I liked). And Su Ho goes crazy, and doesn’t register (or registers too late) that Violin Girl is telling him the baby is his. And there is a fight and he almost barrels over from the roof because he isn’t paying attention but GP manages to save him even if it means he himself is going to plummet down four stories? And SH hits his head (I guess that is why the scars and the fits?) And Violin Girl goes into shock labor blah blah blah. I guess Su Ho blanks any of this out so no idea about pregnancy and Violin Girl dies from complications blah blah blah Gwan Pil takes the kid? And he doesn’t know Su Ho doesn’t remember any of it…
So, let me get this straight. Gwan Pil has been slaving away taking care of this woman while she is pregnant with another man’s baby?????!!!!!!!!!!! (Is that why he ditched his law studies, to make money for them?) And then he raised this baby as his own daughter and totally adores the ground she walks on even if she is a child of someone he liked with another???
OMG.
Seriously.
Maaaaaaaan.
And the tabloid journo found out the truth (that it’s Su Ho’s child) and OMG, I bet Su Ho, newly sane and what not, would totally want his kid back and oh no, they can’t! I mean, Ggot Nim is the only thing Gwan Pil has. BOOOOO! I do not approve. I saw the look on his face when he saw SH hug Ggot Nim. Boooo! OK, they don’t even need to have GP and YJ end up together as long as he can keep Ggot Nim. They are seriously my favorite relationship in the drama. Tough guy and little girl, daddy-daughter bonding EEE!
But seriously, Gwan Pil, I know you made a career out of self-sacrifice, but come on, you deserve to grab some of your own happiness, either with YJ or GN or both!
ETA: No way is Su Ho going to end up with YJ. I mean, he remembered the truth now. He knows how much he owes GP. And he knows GP likes YJ. So I don't think he'll try to chase YJ now, especially since he is going to have to come to terms with the hugeness of being Daddy. And then YJ can console GP whose total Achilles Heel is his (even if non-biological) daughter!
In conclusion, how awesome is Gwan Pil? Seriously. Maaaan.
In other news, I am halfway through ep 11 of The Devil and even the beginning of it broke me, with the Cop trying to save that ungrateful tabloid journo who is heaping insults on him, and then he is flashbacking to being a kid, and trying to kill himself out of guilt etc etc. And then Seung Ha, in that junkyard where his brother was killed, remembering all the awful things that happened (and they were awful), tears streaming down his face. In a way, character development in the drama for Cop and Lawyer is in line with their characters: Cop is open and we know his humanity right away. Lawyer holds it all close so at first we only see the reserved façade with hints of caring. But he is beginning to fall apart and crack wide open, and we see the hurt and the humanity and even (however he tries to supress it) goodness. I never really hated him before, even if I came close, because there was always that hint of humanity there, but I completely love him now.
And then, in lighter news, I loved the scene where Librarian took him out for lunch with so much love!
He is so elegant but she so teaches him eat this ridiculously messy food and he looks like a little kid, face stuffed with food, thoroughly unpoised. In a way, that is what she does for him in general: makes him human.
Their cameraman is incredible and so is JJH. I love how litereally almost swoony the scenes where he looks at her are. The tenderness in his eyes is so palpable that combined with the way the camera moves, his gaze is almost tactile…And I love how he keeps looking at her but never for too long, as if anything more than those brief glances is too intense and happy to bear.
And then I had to run!
