Hmmm, is it just me or is it funny (as in ‘odd’ not ‘hilarious’) that in both dramas that Jae Hee has done (Delightful Girl Chun-Hyang and now Witch Yoo Hee), he is paired with a really intelligent, strong-willed heroine? Of course, Chun-Hyang is normal and not uber-bitch like Yoo Hee (in fact that characters don’t have much in common), but they are both successful, bossy, and suffer no fools.

The ending of DGCH just feels me with so much glee and really, for some odd reason makes me think of that quote from LM Bujold’s Miles books, where they refer to Cordelia as ‘The Admiral’s Captain’ (Cordelia is one of my favorite fictional heroines, and can be downright scary, and the Admiral in question is Aral Vorkosigan, her very very powerful husband). Because seriously, I can just see Mong-Ryong and Chun-Hyang after the drama ends. He will be this totally alpha, fearsome DA who takes down organized crime and kicks people’s heads in and is all tough and everything, but then he’ll get home and Chun-Hyang will totally boss him, and the thing I love is he will totally let her, not because he is spineless, but precisely because he has nothing to prove and he is very proud of his clever, bossy, strong-willed wife. And it would totally amuse him, too.

And in other drama news, I bring you some pics from My Love Patzzi, cute if not spectacular drama I am watching right now. Hmmmm, this is good as a ‘relax’ period, but I think I need to do a poll for which drama to start watching that will make me obsessed next.

*melts*

And I think I just found my next 'obsession' drama after the rest period of watching My Love Patzzi. I just got my hands on Snow White (also known as Taste Sweet Love). OMG!!! Bad boy Lee Wan. Trumps it all.

I found this MV for it on youtube. I dislike country music, so the soundtrack for the vid drives me bonkers, but the vid itself is cut really well and you can totally see the awesomeness of SW. Just hit the mute button for the MV soundtrack if you are country-allergic :)

And because I will always love and obssess over My Girl (the way I love and obssess over Goong), here is a cute My Girl MV I found. Once again, not too keen on the song but the MV is cute:

And to end things on an awesome note (here I love the MV and the song), here is MV for Green Rose, which is the first drama of my 'incomplete' list I will restart:

i recommend taste of sweet love *snow white* i enjoyed it... lee wan is adorable in this...

i agree jae hee's character in both dgch and witch yoo hee is kinda the same... he likes his women bossy and i think it's cause as a guy he has nothing to prove and who doesn't like a strong woman..

I am definitely watching Snow White. I mean...Lee Wan! And he doesn't die.

Re: Jae Hee. I think the characters are somewhat different (in DGCH he is a lot more boyish and wild and...just I don't know, hard to put into words). But they ar definitely similar in being laid-back and amused.

kdramas seem to be the place to go for intelligent and strong willed heroines. tdrama heroines seem to mostly go for the cute factor, and most jdorama heroines seem to mostly be good balances for the males-though I attibute that to the fact that most jdramas that we get are the ones featuring JE boys, who tend to be the focus(the exception to this-in my viewing-is Abe Hiroshi, who is quite simply a force of nature. The only people I've ever seen really able to fully hold their own against him are Nakama Yukie-who can hold her own against anyone-and Nogiwa Yoko.

There are heroines who are exceptions in both cases, of course, but that feels like the general rule.(cdrama heroines, though, seem to be more varied, though I've only seen period cdramas, so it's hard for me to say)

Almost every kdrama I've seen, though, has had a strong and intelligent heroine, and sometimes the secondary females are even more so.

I actually like twdrama heroines a lot: the heroines of Mars and MG are very strong. The heroine of Love Contract is damaged (but strong). The heroine of Tokyo Juliet is ambitious and career-oriented. ISWAK's is silly and Hana Kimi's is an adorable loon.

Re: jdramas. I don't know what it is about jdrama heroines, but with some exceptions (like Aki in Pride), they don't appeal to me at all.

I like the tdrama heroines I'bve encountered so far, it's just that, largely in what I've seen and read about those I've haven't seen) "cute" is a huge emphasis(which I'm fine with as long as it's not "annoyingly cute") Mars and MG were the ones I was thinking of as the exceptions(easier for me to pin down, as I've seen fewer of them)

I rather like most jdrama heroines, but understand what you mean. One thing I've noticed about them is that most aren't as(for lack of a better word) girly as other drama heroines. At least, that's how they seem to me. But, like I said, a lot of the times they seem to be accessories or something for the JE boys to long for and/or bicker with.

Re: jdrama and girliness. Really? I actually find them the girliest of the bunch. Also, usually not charming at all. When they try for charming, they often come across as either fragile (OK) or batshit crazy and high maintenance (which does not equal spunky). There are exceptions, of course, but while I know I'll love or like most any twdrama or kdrama heroins, heroines I adore in jdramas few and far between. They have no charm at all.

maybe we're just thinking of girly differently. A lot of jdrama heroines seem to have a tomboyishness to them to me, even the ones portrayed as girly. Maybe...not quite as feminine? (without the accessories, I mean)

Ohh, Kim Jae-won is THAT guy?! I've seen him in a film called 100 Days With Mr Arrogant. That one was a bit on the wild side with the comedy, though enormously amusing, and sadly lacking in the romance but yeah, liked him fine, he was cute (and made for a really funny asshole in that movie). And oh, Kim Rae-won. Stop with the hot.

South-Korea - all your hot men are belong to us.
