dangermousieI am still working on my humongous 'kdrama guys' guide. But in the process of researching said guide...*ahhhh, the hardships I, a devoted researcher, undergo in the name of science, I came across lovely lovely thread on soompi dealing with...KISSING.
So. Courtesy of soompi and youtube. Think kdramas are like Bollywood? Not much smooching going on? Go behind the cut to be enlightened. I recommend a glass of cold water by the computer. Or maybe just run the computer in the shower.
My favorite kdrama kiss. Goong:
The two kiss scenes from My Girl (spliced together), arguably my favorite kdrama. I just die during the first kiss when Gong-Chan kisses Yu-Rin on the forehead and then asks her 'dissapointed?' and she is caught unaware and blurts 'yes' and he moves in the for kill. Only to break the kiss in the middle to say 'Saranghe' (I love you). And the second kiss just makes me cry, especially when she says 'I love you.' *bawl* :

It is chock full of cliches and at times will drive you up the wall, but oh my GOD, I couldn't stop watching. It's not that deep and it's not that thoughtful, but it is the kind of drama crack that will get you to stay up until the wee hours watching. It's just that good.

And my research is definitely fun. I keep wanting to do a primer and then I watch more kdramas and there are more guys to add on the list and thus it never ends :)

You remember when you said, regarding Fanaa, that you had this irrational allergy to people critisizing it and it felt sort of oddly personal because you felt protective over it? I'm still like that with Fanaa to a certain degree & currently even moreso like that with My Girl. Somebody just critisized it in d-addicts' Finnish topic and I felt like a piece of my heart fell off or something. I can admit to some of its flaws but I really don't understand how anybody could watch it and NOT care deeply for those characters.. (This was random, just left like sharing.)
Goong kiss obviously wins all. No doubt about it.
And damn how I love the MNIKSS kisses. Hyun Bin made me so ranty in that but that's really the point of his character, the immaturity and idiocy and assholeness caused by it him being young and juvenile.. The second kiss is so awesome because it's him *trying* to make her see he loves her a lot and stuff but he just does it so wrong (though if she's watched any kdramas she knows that yelling = love) and takes her to a goddamn toilet because that's where they first met but oh man. It's so his idea of romantic. It's like, God, you're so stupid but you try. ♥
Love Story in Harvard - Okay, if I go to Harvard, will Kim Rae-won kiss me like that? Plz let the answer be yes.

But I just love that first kiss for the teasing (Gong-Chan has a very quiet but awesome sense of humor, that he only really lets out with Yu-Rin) and then just the sheer sweetness. And the second kiss is just...guuuuh, finally. Girl, you finally stopped lying! YES!!!! You can be happy together.
Re: My Girl criticism. I get like that too. I was in the overrated/underrated thread at soompi (shouldn't have been :P) and my blood pressure was going through the roof. I get the same with Full House. I know there are flaws, but I love it much too much.

And it's brilliant and twisted and dark and he starts out trying to get revenge on her but falls for her, and there are amazing kissing scenes. And gorgeous cinematography, and Rain being alpha and protective and deadly. And just awesomeness. I posted about it like crazy when I first watched it, and while those are spoilery, if you clikc on my a love to kill tag, one of them is not spoilery pic post of the drama. That should be enough to convince anyone to watch it :

Date: 2007-04-04 01:24 am (UTC)Basically, you have to have the vid and the sub file in the same folder, and have exactly the same name (except with different file endings of course, .srt v .avi or whatever it happens to be).
I have never used Windows Media Player to play subbed files in so no idea if it works but it should.
My advice if this doesn't work or the file won't play? Download CCCP, a combined community codec pack. These codecs will take care of any subs and the pack comes with MPCPlayer that will play anything, even partial files. I dled it a while back and love it. Dl it here: http://www.cccp-project.net/ (it's free).
Another player I like to use (if your codecs work fine and it's just your player which is being wonky saying it can't play the format or subs or what not) is VLCPlayer. Just google where to dl. It also plays most files. The trick with the one, is to play the subs, when you go to open the file, before you open the vid file, go 'check' the subs option and THEN open the vid file and the subs will play (they won't if you do vice versa). With MPCPlayer, they play automatically.
