The spoiler for ep 17 of Hong Gil Dong (you know which one I mean) made me gleeful.

Also, here are pics (utterly unspoilery and promo) of KJH as HGD, looking beyond scrumptuous.

Also, because talking with [livejournal.com profile] alexandral made me remember how much I adored Delightful Girl Chun-Hyang, here is this gorgeous angsty DGCH MV:

It also made me remember how much I hated Byun Hak-Do, the 'other guy' in it. I think he is my least favorite other guy ever. It took me forever to be able to watch Uhm Tae-Woong in anything else after that. So, since I thought I never ranted about him, here it is.

Ok, let's start with pedophilic vibes, shall we? We start the story when Chunhyang is what? 18? And Mongryong 17? How old is Hak-do? 35? He has to be at least that old, he runs a successful entertainment company! What kind of a creepy guy gets fixated and hits on a schoolgirl half his age? WTF! The one who wears a school uniform half the time?

Shall we continue with the selfishness? He offers (secretly, without her knowing) Chunhyang a scholarship only to yank it when he sees the girl hang out with the guy who is legally her fiance (Mongryong). WTF? Don't do it at all, rather than something like that. She is not your freaking TOY! He keeps doing this whole personal property thing throughout. WTF? Why? Has she ever indicated any interest in you? Has she ever asked anything? Stop yanking her chain! Unlike with Mongryong, for whom it's all about Chunhyang and her comfort and happiness, from big things to little (like the fact that he always fetches hot pans for her because she is always forgetting kitchen mitts and burning her fingers), for Hakdo it's all about himself and how he feels. He keeps doing manipulation and lies to get MR and CH to separate no matter how it's hurting the woman he supposedly loves.

But forget all that: the creepy pedophile vibes, and the selfishness. How about the piece de resistance? The act that made me not ever want to see poor UTW in anything ever again?

Yeah, yeah, it's such a lovely sweet act of yours to browbeat and blackmail a frightened 20-year-old girl to leave her husband (who is, I hasten to add, a 20-year-old powerless college student. Very even contest this) because you hired people to frame him for attempted rape!!!!

Great. You give the girl you supposedly love an ultimatum: either the boy she loves goes to jail for God-knows-how-long (he already spent some time in jail, thanks to you! You did a really thorough job) or she agrees to leave him forever, break his heart to bits, and come to you. WTF????

Did I mention the fact that he is her husband and they have been a couple for ages, and she never indicated she likes you or led you on, and he is the one thing she has ever wanted, and finally got? Despite all your meddling?

Fine, you don't care you almost ruined an innocent kid's life and made him so miserable he went to total pieces as the one person he wanted to stand by him inexplicably walked out on him in the cruelest fashion (one of the things I loathe the most is that I hate people picking on someone much weaker, and a 35-year-old powerful executive and a 20-year-old college boy are so not even). You don't owe MR things.

But you are insisting you love Chunhyang! WTF! The woman you supposedly love is in torment having to break the heart of her OTP over and over and you are just gloaty? UGH. The scene where CH slips up and finally, despite her stiff upper lip, she actually begs Hak-do to let her go? Kills me. I love though that this is only once, and throughout she treats him like trash that he is.

And then years later, when you find her again, you attempt to do the same thing! I think it's not love or even obsession, it's just a dislike of losing. And at the end you relent and show the video of 'fake rape' and say it was fake? Boooohooooo, I don't FRELLING care.

The only reason you did this is because your blackmail became powerless. And it's also not an uneven context any more because he isn't a college kid any more, but a 26? 28? year old prosecutor for the city of Seoul so he is tough and grown-up. Because Mong-Ryong found out the truth and he came to you and told you to your face he doesn't care and you can do all this and he won't give up CH. So your power over CH (which really depended on MR not finding out) is gone. So yeah, you give up. Because you can't get what you want. Permit me not to care! You stole 5? 7? Who knows how many years away from them?

I really need to rewatch DGCH. I remember watching later eps totally jet-lagged and lacking in sleep and still bawling and laughing at the same time. The diary scene is still my fave kdrama scene ever

Oh, and it also reminded me that I want to finish Witch Yoo Hee. I adored it when it aired, but I usually have huge trouble with waiting for subs. Must finish now.

Here is a smoochy MV:

Now off to finish Hello My Teacher.
