Que Sera Sera: done
Feb. 17th, 2008 12:51 pmI have finished Que Sera Sera which remained great to the end.

However, I have a confession: by the end of this the only character I ended up emotionally caring for was the Icy Rich Guy (Joon Hyuk). I hope he is happy living in America and found a sane and warm girl to date. Tae Joo was complex and very interesting (and Eric Mun was incredible) but I couldn't muster too much sympathy for him as all that misery was of his own making. He was in hell but he placed himself there. I did find him the most interesting and fascinating one though. QSS was all about his steep learning curve, wasn't it? Like an alien learning human emotions.
Hye Lin I never warmed up to and Eun Soo? I liked her a lot, even if I wanted her to try harder in her marriage. She was the true innocent in this (Though I think part of the reason I liked her but never loved her is because she is so different from 'my' heroine type, i.e. a heroine who I can identify with. Those heroines are ones like Yu Rin, Sujini, Yi Nok, Chae Gyung: loud, hyper, cheerful extraverts).
But they were all incredibly fascinating and complicated, and yeah, broke my heart repeatedly during the last two eps.
The scenes that stick with me are:
a. when Eun Soo is in pain, collapsed on the floor and Tae Joo tries to help her only to be pushed away. And then Joon Hyk arrives and takes her away and we have a long tracking shot of Tae Joo standing there, being left behind, hands useless at his sides.
b. The scene after ES lost the baby. JH's pain and repentance and just...seriously, he ended being the only character I truly sympathized with.
c. Ohhhhh, the ELEVATOR SCENE. When Tae Joo loses it and everything he's held in and tried to suppress can't be suppressed any more and he runs to her and clutches her and begs her to run away with him and she tells him she never wants to see him again? And then she gets into the elevator and collapses and he is outside, clawing at the door and collapsing and sobbing her name? Thank you for using my heart as a pincushion, show.
d. When he throws his badge and walks away. I love that he gave it all up because he was suffocating, because it wasn't 'his' not to get ES back.
e. When he tells ES that she was his 'first.' OMG.
f. The ending. I died of glee. Died. So hopeful.
