Woke up completely disordered, not the least because the sun was shining brightly through the windows, violating my mental idea of 'rainy grey foggy' London severely. Luckily, we got clouds intermittenly through the day, restoring my mental equilibrium.

Had an awesome awesome day. Before I get to it, to complete my mental chornicle of Day 1, I have to mention that the play was awesome: funny and with a slight edge, and we had excellent seats. Ironically, it was the same theatre where I first saw a play in London (that time it was the Ideal Husband) almost 10 years ago. Billy Piper and the two male actors were excellent, and I'll write more on it, but for now I'll just note the deathly hush in the theatre when Billie removed her top, demonstrating her rather lovely bra. You could tell that the men in the audience had but a single thought: 'Please Lord, will they take it further?' (they didn't).

After that, we had amazingly yummilicious Indian dinner (though I betrayed my Americanness by fogetting and asking for iced tea to which the waiter replied bewilderedly: 'you'd like ice in your tea?'). And then we walked to the hotel from there, wandering through Belgravia, walking for hours (two and a half) which was awesome. And nothing ends the day as well as having a hot bath and drinking a cup of milk tea.

But anyway, today.

The computer place is about to close, so I should be brief. We ended up going to Grenwich, which was wonderful, especially the view from the Royal Observatory and then later wandering through Hampstead, which surely invented the words 'charming' and 'quaint' for its sole use. We had a delicious Algerian/Moroccan dinner after wandering through the (infamous) heath.

And then we ended up walking through Mayfair, which was so posh (there was an association to repeal fox-hunting ban), it had a dry cleaner's named Jeeves, and I felt that if there was a policeman, he would have chased us out for being American and without a hyphenated name. I took pictures of some particularly outrageous shop windows, and ended up in Gorsvernor Sq (the US embassy is a monstrocity) which had various snooty buildings including an apartment complex so high tone that it's doorman would have sneered at the idea of sneering at the doorman at our old apartment. :D

Then we ended up in Bond Street which was trying for expensive and exclusive but I think went overboard and ended up at 'ridiculous': there was a store selling shoes bejewelled enough to make Cinderella (or Liberaci) weep.

London Eye and BM and etc tomorrow and so will be my replies to everyone as we are about to get booted...

Oooo...Ideal Husband...*loves the movie*

You realize, of course, that given British steroetypes in American television(and my imagination) I have a visdual to go with the last statement...

I remember the first time we went to the US and I was like 'iced TEA?!'. I can imagine the look of confusion on his face!

Oooh London Eye. Good if you want to see London from all angles. But not as good as the BM! :D

Enjoy your day!
