dangermousie: (Kenshin: Misao/Aoshi by roninhonor)

The Legend has to be the tightest plotted drama I've ever seen in my life. If I didn't know otherwise, for certain, I would definitely assume that it is an adaptation of a book. I can also see why they didn't extend the episode order despite the very high ratings: it would play total havoc with the story to fit more eps in. (Or maybe they'd just go broke paying BYJ :D)

I also love the fact that, anime-like, even the 'darkest' characters have believable motivations and are not psycho-cacklers, and you can see humanity even in them, see their POV. And of course, someone like Ho Tae is downright sympathetic: he is, at base, a deeply noble person, and a very talented one, who tries to do the honorable thing even in the situation he is in, but his family, position, and all the other factors, simply won't allow him to be on the right side.

I continue to adore Sujini (I am on ep 8) with mad, mad adoration. If a period fantasy epic could have a heroine like the heroine of Coffee Prince, Sujini would be it :D In comparison with her, Kiha, the other main female, doesn't fare too well. I don't dislike Kiha, and I certainly feel her quite horrid predicament, but I don't find her very interesting at all. She is rather matronly, Sujini's irresistable sense of fun is missing. Which totally reflects in the interactions Dam Deok has with the both of them. I love watching him with Sujini because it is all just so incredibly fun and adorable and the screen sparkles a little. Even Kiha noticed that. But with Kiha, it's theoretically appealing: childhood friends, on opposite sides, slept together in a cave (!!!!!) and after that she left him forever, but I dunno, it doesn't capture my imagination. I think DD only likes Kiha because for a long time she was the only girl he really knew well. I don't know, I am not too interested with her and Ho Tae either (though Ho Tae is burning for her, which provides yummy angst). I am just not too interested in Kiha, period. Don't know why.

Also, Dam Deok swordfighting? HOT HOT HOT HOT.

And I am definitely convinced that while we are supposed to think his father is a good man in a tough situation, I still view him as insane and probably a grown-up version of someone who was dropped on the head a lot as a baby.

ETA: Sujini is also a frelling awesome archer. YES. I like my OTPs violent and good with sharp implements. Plus, she rescued him, and he thought it was cool, and I gotta love a guy who has no issues with being rescued by a woman.

ETA2: I just had a revelation! I think part of the reason I adore the potential for Dam Deok/Sujini is because it makes me think, a little, of Aoshi/Misao. YES.
