Saw The Host with [livejournal.com profile] smartylibrarian yesterday. Very off-kilter, funny, scary and good. Though they killed the daughter, the one everyone was trying to rescue, at the end! And she was awesome, too. It's one of the few buttons I have: I cannot bear to see children harmed, so when she (and earlier, the little kid's older brother) died, I just...it's makes me depressed even today. Though I suppose since it's a Korean movie, I should just be happy there was anyone left alive at the end.

Oh, and Gong-Chan's grandpa from My Girl was in it and he bought it but I liked him here...

Also, because my Goong fever is always there, I've been watching Goong 1.5 (the special they did with interviews at some TV show and behind the scenes filming stuff) and it's AWESOME. I also think I now have a thing for JJH (like I didn't before :D)

And this is a nice lead-in into the visual portion of the post a.k.a. youtube is my friend. I found a trailer for The Devil and also bits from press conference subbed in English. Mmmm...JJH.

Short trailer. Looks really stylish and dark:

Press conference/interview with English subs:

This is much shorter and no subs, but what the hell:

And check out my awesome new icon, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] miss_dian! *meep*

I loved The Host. The monster was perfectly creepy and the family was peculiar and funny - and how they were brought together by the experience was rather touching. I even liked the spoiler thing you mentioned.. I think a fully happy ending might've felt a tad cheesy. It had some very interesting layers, too, that I read about later online.

OMG The Devil trailer. Seems awesomely creepy and mysterious and braintwisty. I'm so so very curious.

Oh, it made sense for The Host spoler thing to happen but I still felt really bad. Thought it was an awesome movie! I don't even liks horror movies as a rule and this rocked.

Re: The Devil. Me too! And you know what? No matter what it looks like pink polka dots and powder blue shirts are unlikely...YAY

JJH.. in a drama.. not wearing bad fashion. It's almost too awesome!

Yeah, a very well-made movie overall. Even the creepiest moments were awesome, and the story was tight. I didn't even mind the slight demonization of Americans - it was a political statement but not too in-your-face to be annoying. And yeah, I hate horror movies. I'm okay with creepy, though.

Btw, to jump to a COMPLETELY different subject, I was watching Kurosagi (am at ep 8 now) and going through your Kurosagi posts a bit and saw you demanding fic. Has anything been written that you've seen around?

There is AWESOME Kurosagi fic in [livejournal.com profile] kitsune714's LJ. Her lj is flocked though and I don't know if you have her friended. She is very nice so temporary friending might be a good option :)

I almost can't believe it :D

Exactly. And I am an American. But then, beaurocracy of the Korean state was portrayed just as unflatteringly. And I ended up really caring for the crazy family, you know! (Though I was still a bit 'take that, Gong-Chan's grandpa!' at one point :D)

I completely second the recommendation for [livejournal.com profile] kitsune714's Kurosagi fics. They are are extremely good!

I really enjoyed The Host when I saw it. It had it all, monsters, famil unity, social commentary, action, etc. I didn't actually think of it as a "horror movie" at all. To me it was completely a "monster movie", like Godzilla, for example (not the atrocious Hollywood monstrosity portraying under that name, but the original Japanese ones :)).

Though the movie was a big budget version, it still retained the essence of all those low budget monster movies.

And on The Devil, can't wait to see it! The trailor looks wonderfully dark, and Joo Ji Hoon looks wonderful in suits. What's not to like :D.

Every time I see that icon, I drool a little.

And you are right, The Host is a monster movie (though I guess I always think of them as subset of the horror genre).

I keep thinking I saw the actress who played the archer somewhere and it's driving me nuts.

I see monster movies and horror as separate things, but that's just me :).

Re: actress who played the archer:
Here is her wiki page, you might have seen her in one of those.

I loved the Goong Special! It was so funny and cute. I had no idea before that JJH was so funny. I really loved the part when he finally realized that they are not rehearsing, LOL! ^^ He's adorable! :D

I LOVE YOU FOR THE SUBBED CLIP!! GAH!! I could watch JJH model and pose forever. The drama sounds really interesting. I can't wait for this 20 weeks of pure bliss. :P The trailer gave me mad chills, lol. I'm too crazy excited. It looks beautifully filmed. EEE! I can't wait! :D Thank you so much for sharing the clips.

At first I read it as 'he looks beautifully filmed' LOL. Hmmm, my mind is hopeless.

I know, when I think of 20 (!!) weeks of fun stuff to watch weekly (that's 5 months!)...eeeee!

I really loved the part when he finally realized that they are not rehearsing, LOL! ^^ He's adorable! :D

I loved the part where the hosts asked him about whether he agreed with what the director said about him making it anyway with such killer looks, even if he didn't get cast, and JJH dedpanning his agreement :D

LOL!! He does :P

EEEEE!! *jumps up and down*

That was really cute! I really liked his impersonation of the director too!

I just found out the title for final episode of Hanadan!!! AHHHH! It's probably the most spoilers I could ever ask for. When I first read it I screamed and scared my roommate, lol. :P

The footage of the director rehearsing the romantic scene in place of Hyo-Rin was hilarious :)

Yeah, I knew about that Hanadan title for a while :)

LOL, that really was. Lucky him :P I loved when JJH joked and said that the director even lighter than her, lol. Of course, now when I think of Goong I think of his back. ^^

I know you've been spoiled for awhile and teasing me too! :P I don't think I'll read anymore spoilers. I'm very happy from what I've found out today. :)

Enjoy! Aren't they awesome? I especially loved it when JJH said he wishes he's had a power to be transported anywhere at will just by closing his eyes (asked what superpower he'd like to have) and then when asked where he'd go said the women's public bath. LOL. I hate to break it to you, JJH, but I don't think you need to resort to that with your looks :)
