You have NO idea of the willpower it’s taking me not to click on the spoilers for the last Hana Yori Dango 2 ep. This is not helped by the fact that I am leaving on an out-of-town trip tonight and won’t be back until Saturday evening, so might very well not get to the ep till then (depending on when dl will become available). AAAAAA!

To distract self, I’ve been thinking about The Devil. Mawang is the Korean name and I better start using it from now on because otherwise people are going to mistake me for a Satan-worshipper :P Nothing against S-ws, but am not, am merely a Joo Ji Hoon fangirl, which isn’t quite the same thing.

Anyway, Mawang. Starts next Wednesday. Any idea if a subs group picked it up? Pleasepleaseplease say yes. After watching the youtube short interview clip I linked to earlier, I have also realized that I like Uhm Tae-Woong now. He is just so funny and adorable. He gave me the creeps in Delightful Girl Chun-Hyang and since it was the only thing I saw him in, I sort of id-ed the actor with the role. But now, nope. Even if I end up disliking his character in Mawang, I’ll still like him as an actor which is good.

Also, the thing they said during that interview/promo thing that Joo Ji-Hoon plays a good man who becomes evil (in the course of the drama) made me think that he can’t be a serial killer, not from the start. Because no way is that a serial killer description. Unless they mean ‘serial killer’ in a very broad sense as someone who kills more than one person for whatever reason. Which would fit into the whole thing going around that he is trying to achieve revenge for the deaths of his Mother and Brother. And then (and here is my spec) possibly starts going down the slippery slope etc. and maybe starting to take out innocent passerby or whatever and developing a taste for it. That would actually fit the fact that he is supposed to have some sort of a love relationship with Shin Min Ah’s character as I can’t see any drama giving a true serial killer a romantic relationship. They also mentioned that UTW’s character is an ‘evil man in the guise of good’ or something to that effect which made me go hmmmm….Poor Shin Min Ah. Will she ever get a normal love interest in a drama? ;D

And because this is as good a segue as any, I’m still watching Goong 1.5 special and it’s too funny. The bloopers especially or the actor who plays CG’s father (who says he was supposed to be the Queen LOL) or JJH imitating their director. Fun.

Oh, yeah. Damo. I am partway through ep 5. It would really help if I wasn’t so brain-dead when I try to watch this as I end up nearly passing out with exhaustion when I get to it. Must catch up on it this weekend.

It’s still wonderful though, even in my semi-dead state. I love how it shatters Chae-Ohk to hear that the aristocrat girl wants to marry Hwangbo Yoon (why do I always type out his full name? Is he a Korean equivalent of Hanazawa Rui? :P) And how she remembers him touching her. And the conversation with the elderly man who is the father of the aristo bumpkin who likes her. The old man likes her but tells her it can never be and for CO it’s not the fact that she can’t have the bumpkin (who she doesn’t care for) that hurts and cuts to the bone, but a reminder of her status, of her barriers. And because Hwangbo Yoon’s given her a life above what her ‘lot’ is supposed to be, she cannot be content to be a ‘dumb peasant’ especially since she remembers her life before the family fall. She just doesn’t fit anywhere.

OMG! He draws pictures of her as a child!

And OMG, she begs him to let her go infiltrate the counterfeiting gang (which is borderline suicidal as an action) and I think it’s because she must get away from him or she’ll go mad from wanting and not being able to express that want but she also must be helping him or she can’t live with herself. And she begs him to allow her to breathe.

And I love that ultimately, even though it’s against every instinct he has, he can refuse her nothing.

And OMG OMG OMG OMG! When she gets up to leave, and all of a sudden he pulls her into this enveloping, fierce hug, and tells her ‘promise me you’ll come back alive, no matter what.’

And that’s the most body contact they’ve allowed themselves since they were kids. And it sizzles on my screen.

You know, this is one of the strongest drama love stories, even though it’s entirely unspoken.

I wonder if he refuses to tell even the Emperor of his plan to trap the gang (despite the danger such a refusal is to himself) because he doesn’t want to put Chae-Ohk’s secret identity at risk no matter the cost to himself?

I love this drama.
