Oh Bollywood, why do you spoil me so?
Feb. 12th, 2007 08:31 pmOh Bollywood. I love you. According to the TB board (tons of teenyboppers but best source for Bolly stuff, sort of like Bolly soompi), John Abraham was interviewed and said he's doing a romantic film called "Last Leaf" with Vidya directed by newcomer Vikram Motwande (SLB's assistant). *dies* *briefly resurrects, dies again.* Three hours just of John/Vidya. YES.
I have also just found out that there will be another superhero movie made by Bollywood this year! Called Drona and starring Abhishek Bachchan as a superhero. Filmed in Prague. Oh what has Rakesh Roshan done with Krrish (Bollywood's first superhero movie that came out last year and was a super smash). I confess the idea of a Bolly superhero genre makes me happy as either it's going to be delicious fun like Krrish or it's going to suck so bad as to be enitrely entertaining on a different level :D I mean, it's like any other superhero movie, only with singing and dancing! What's not to love! Bollywood heroes are half-way to superhero status anyway, what with defeating ten villains single-handed, so might as well make it official.
Indian press, being its own kind and gentle self, is of course publishing such thoughtful articles as the fact that Abhishek is doing the superhero movie with no stops for the Bachchan family just to show up Hrithik Roshan, the star of Krrish, who didn't just steal Dhoom 2 (the movie in which Abhishek and Hrithik co-starred together) but also got to kiss Abhishek's fiancee on screen...oooooooh. Or something.
I don't know if I buy Abhishek as a superhero though. He is a very good actor in arthouse movies, but to be a superhero, you need to have a certain larger than life charisma and persona and I just can't see it (he can do larger than life, has done so in Guru, but once again, it's not the glamorous larger than life). Hrithik? Heck yeah:

The guy was born to play a superhero. Or I can see Shahrukh Khan because of his sheer star wattage. Abhishek? I have yet to really swoon for him outside an arthouse flick (though when he is in a Mani Ratnam flick? Watch out). We shall see.
P.S. After looking for some Bolly pics, I've decided that Hrithik really must eat babies for breakfast or similar. Preferably cute orphan babies. Because no one that hot can be that consistently nice in interviews and say things like the fact that he writes poems about his newborn with a straight face and be for real. I am still waiting for that baby-eating expose. Or at least a snarky interview, people. There is a reason I prefer reading Salman or SRK interviewed. The guys can snark and make me roll in the aisles (so to speak). As to Hrithik? 'I love SRK's Swades.' Yeah, yeah, yeah. Good taste in movies, but quotable? No chance.

Date: 2007-02-13 01:37 am (UTC)Yeah, I heard about this Drona movie. I thought it was about the guru Drona from the Mahabaratha, but soon figured out I was very wrong. Why are all these superheroes named after people in the Mahabaratha...Krrish for Krishna, and now Drona. And even Eklavya is a name from the Mahabaratha! /spiel
Ok, well, um, I forget what my point is. Oh, yes, Hrithik is too good to be true, so correct. Though I do think SRK's brand of humour makes him too good to be true as well. :D

Speaking of controversies, do you think Aish married a tree? No idea, but either way, Bolly gossip >>>>>> HW gossip :D

Well, let's hope the tree doesn't ask for too much alimony.

Date: 2007-02-13 02:02 am (UTC)Yeah, John was such a waste in Baabul, I will agree. But Salman's role wasn't amazing either. Amitabh and Rani stole the show for sure.

As to John Abraham, thanks for the images the other day.
I am always pleased to oblige and share the hotness. :)
I think it's time for another picspam. I actually like him not just for the hotness, but I really do like his choices of movies. He has been doing these oddball ones lately. Yay.
