BSG: Rapture. Ep 3.oh who keeps track?

dangermousieSo, Battlestar.
There were some things I absolutely loved and some things I was ‘meh’ on and some things that made me want to pull out my hair. Or better yet, Ron Moore’s.
Things I hated:
The Cylons. Seriously, how much better was it when they were mysterious and threatening. These Cylons are as dumb as a box of bricks. Really really thick bricks. I am beginning to think that the only way they wiped out 12 Colonies is by accidentally tripping over the ‘do not push’ switch.
Let’s take a look at them, shall we?
1. They allow Deanna to go off traipsing with Baltar quite easily, and ditch for a while.
2. They not only do not interrogate Athena (who would be LOADED with useful information), they don’t even greet her in the Resurrection Chamber in order to make sure she doesn’t sabotage something, but they even allow her to escape the basestar with Cylon Jesus (aka Hera) without any trouble.
COME ON.
This is pathetic. A dog could do better. And no, I am not referring to MatsuJun in Kimi Wa Petto (watches as this reference is lost on everyone except![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
kitsune714 and winterspel).
These are the Cylons that came up with the plan to take out the Colonies? These are the Cylons that came out with the whole Helo-in-a-maze thing and made Helo and Athena’s life so hard when they tried to run? Come ON. At this rate, Helo and Athena would have made it through on Caprica by just walking by saying ‘oh no, these aren’t the droids you are looking for.’ What, sometime between now and then Cylons stopped eating their tuna sandwiches? The warranty is expiring? What?
BLAH.
Things I was meh about:
Baltar. You know, shave! OK? Please. Also, get off my screen. I am bored with him since the mini, and this isn’t changing any time soon. I don’t mind him being evil, but have some conviction of your evilness, please. Your twitching just makes me want to smack you.
Deanna dying before revealing who the final five are. How very silent movie melodramaish: “Son, my killers are…*croak*” Yeah, right.
The love polygon of boringness. Let me summarize:
1. Shut up Dee. Ditch him, or give him an ultimatum, or decide to put up with it. But stop being so passive aggressive and waffly.
2. I do NOT watch BSG for the romance. Which is good, as BSG is incapable of doing angsty conflicted romance with Lee and Kara.
Things I loved:
Tyrol knocking out Baltar. And bringing him back in a body bag. I love the look on Tigh’s face. His day just got a lot brighter.
Apollo and Anders being all sweaty and macho and hot. I was watching this with![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-syndicated.gif)
smartylibrarian and she can confirm that when it got to the following exchange, I squealed like a pig:
Anders: swearing that if Kara dies, he will kill Lee
Lee: If she dies, I’ll let you.
Yeah. Angst, I love ya. Though Lee earns huge jerk points for sending Dee to rescue Kara.
I loved the hugs at the end. I love the way Kara and Anders are hugging contrasted to Lee and Dee. Lee hesitates for the longest time and only goes to hug Dee after he sees Kara/Anders. And he is looking at Kara throughout the hug while Kara is all absorbed in Anders. It really goes with the whole Kara really does love Anders, whatever her feelings of love for Lee. While Lee? Couldn’t care less if Dee turned into a pillar of salt.
I saved the best thing for last:
HELO AND ATHENA
OMG, how much do I love my OTP? That scene, with her begging him to shoot her, and his trying to come up with any plan, however ridiculous, however far-fetched to not do it. And her telling him he is the strong one etc etc and his holding her and shooting her point blank and just holding her like that and crying into her hair and screaming? GUUUUH. Is it wrong that I want an icon of that?
And then being such a shell when talking to Adama and Roslin but not backing down in the least and his utter faith in Athena and when Roslin (rightly) points out that this endangers the fleet, he (also rightly) pointing out back to her that if Roslin didn’t take the baby, none of this would have happened. I don’t think it’s ever going to sink in for Roslin though. Sometimes, I really do dislike her.
And Athena coming back and the adorable reunion and I want an icon of that too.
Oh God, they are so amazing. See, this is how you do an OTP. You have believable external conflict, not the silly yo-yoing of Kara and Lee.
Oh, and the Helo and Kara friendship scene? Also love.
