Oh Hanadan...

You know, huge part of the reason I preferred Meteor Garden to Hana Yori Dango 1 (btw, if we put Hanadan 1+2 together, the choice is much tougher) was because MG had so much more angst. If MG was a banquet of angst, Hanadan 1 was an angst sandwich.
But you know what? TPTB didn't have to be so considerate of my wishes, OK? It's a total case of 'be careful of what you wish for' because so far with Hanadan 2, they are compensating for that difference. And both MatsuJun and Inoue Mao keep breaking my heart. And this is only two eps in and it's going to get so much worse, before it gets better.
Yeah, I've been rewatching ep 2.
Dammit, I am not supposed to be crying in every darn ep of this drama. The two moments that especially got me, got me so hard, during this rewatch are really little ones because the big ones (like Domyouji's little freak-out in front of the mirror, which I want an icon of, with that close up of just his eyes and the rest of his face concealed by the way his clenched hands are positioned) got me the first time around.
Nope, the ones that got me so much are during the phone conversation at the end, when she is crying and apologizing (oh no, Maikino!) and you see him swallow and close his eyes. For some reason, that just killed me. But not as much as the second 'kill me' moment of the drama: when we see her running to the meeting place. Actually running, her heart in her throat, and on rewatch, you know what she is going to find, and the contrast between her courage and her hope and what waits is just...guuuuh, I want to beat Domyouji black and blue (except I totally don't because the poor guy is already a mess for a reason(s) unknown).
Oh Hanadan!
I do love how they have such expressive faces. MatsuJun and Inoue Mao are just so much better this season (they were good first season but this time around they are excellent). And Inoue Mao's face at the end just...guh. I think she has finally given up. her last ditch effort just ended up like this. (And this time, I am so sure Domyouji called Shigeru there, he doesn't appear surprised, or push her away).
I really want him to chase her now. Even if he is wearing gloves in the last scene and that is so my thing.
