Battlestar: I am feeling curmudgeonly.

dangermousieI've realized I never wrote down my thoughts on Battlestar Galactica's 'Eye of Jupiter' so here they are, behind the cut.
Is anyone else tired of Lee and Kara? Seriously. I like my Pilots as much as anyone, but I prefer my love quadrangles in Korean drama, not on BSG.
And while this is rather in character for both Lee and Kara, I find myself impatient with them both. Especially Kara. I like my UST as much as anyone, but I find wanting to tell her, Cordelia from Buffy-like to spank her inner moppet and get over stuff and move on. Pick Anders and stick to him. Or pick Lee. The whole 'marriage is sacrament' idea is awesome. But not when sticking your tongue someone else's throat. Unless the Colonies' marriage vows are really different, Kara is breaking another promise to the Gods. This is hypocritical, ridiculous and makes no sense. Are there people like that out there? Yes. Does it mean I find them likeable or understandable, or someone I can sympathize with? No. Nor do I find this whole drama particularly interesting. Blah blah Melrose Place. My frustration is highlighted by the fact that I am rewatching Farscape and am seeing a ship handled right.
Lee? Fares rather better. He doesn't want to cheat. I like that he has certain principles he is unwilling to break for anyone, even Kara (paralleled by the fact that at the end he is still bent on doing militarily proper thing, not haring off after Kara). Still, give up on Kara entirely, emotionally too, or if you aren't able (and you aren't), divorce Dee. You shouldn't have that decision dependent on what Kara does.
You know, this show made me really dislike Kara. If she got ran over by a spaceshp next ep? I wouldn't mind. You have two awesome guys, stop messing with them both. Kara's heedless utter selfishness (she seems to be incapable of empathizing with others, care about anything but herself) combined with certain superior smugness is really turning me off her. You have nothing to feel superior about, except for flying prowess. That does not give you a get out of jail card re: anything else.
Fine, Lee is in too deep. He's known her for too long. But I really want to shake Anders and tell him to cut and run.
I've decided I adore Anders, actually. He is being pig-headed and in Lee's face (sometimes in a silly way. You've known her for a year and a half? Really. How long do you think Lee's known her. Also, what's with implying Kara is a slut?) But I can see his anger and his attitude. And you know what, he isn't cheating on his spouse? I admit Anders is more my fictional type because Lee is very establishment. He is a member of the 'ruling group,' organized group, military. Granted, he is no blindly-obeying-orders tin soldier, but there is no doubt he is no rebel outsider. Anders is a lot closer to the outsider type. And though I respect Lee's decision not to go after Kara, Anders' desire resonates so much more emotionally with me. Going after her, even though it's suicide and he has guns pointed at him? Rather, dare I use the comparison, Crichtonish. True, he is no Crichton as he is being silly with no plan, but the whole illogic appeals to me. Ultimately that is why I will never be fully Lee's girl. His concept of duty overrides everything. Which is noble, agreed, but not really my fictional type.
I think Lee and Anders shall proclaim good riddance and hook up instead :P
I was amused at the concept of Chief with pr0n mags in his parents' prayer room. Heh. This said, mysticism on this show always bores me. I'll buy supernatural stuff on something like Buffy because it's set up this way,but supernatural divine mystical stuff is as malapropish here as it would be on Firefly.
On this note, the Boring Battlestar of Cylonity? Guh. I. Do. Not. Care. I did love the Cylons offering to throw in Baltar. Heeee.
And the continuity of Zak. And Laura referring to Lee. And Helo and Sharon finding out about the child.
But overall, blah.
