It's Taiwanese dorama Magicians of Love.
Think Meteor Garden with much less angst and different hot guys.
Basically, MoG is CRACK.
CRACK CRACK CRACK.
I am about halfway into the first ep and it owns my soul.
Yasu and Little Bei:
The dorama follows the adventures of three male, hot, macho, straight hair-dressers. Yes. This is a delicious alternate universe where such things don't just happen but are expected (same universe where Liang the-designer in Tokyo Juliet is hot, straight, and angsty, after all).
Those getlemen: Yasu, Richie, and Fernando (LOL: sounds like a bunch of gigolos) are internationally famous and their new salon puts Our Plucky Heroine, Little Bei (who is OMG adorable and funny and cool) out of business.
But not for long. The boys take her under their wing, and she learns both the art of hair-dressing and the art of romantic triangle, as she becomes entangled with the superior yet sweet Yasu and the focused, dark past Richie. Heh. That will teach her.
I love this thing. It's just the cute angst-less thing I need right now.
So far, my favorite is Richie, who is like Ling on uppers: he is a hairdresser who is a hard-core biker and effortlessly disposes of a gang on his way to work, with the help of some soccer balls. The rumors that he is an 'international agent for the FBI' feel me with glee.
The clothes have to be seen to be believed. This show certainly has its own sharply defined style. True, it makes me boggle, but after seeing places like Shinjuku and Shibuya and Harajuhku, I can certainly see people wearing this.
This show is a tongue-in-cheek comedy. It's adorable. Its funny sweetness will serve as a perfect counterpoint to the hot angst of Farscape. So yeah. This will be the other thing I am watching.
Btw, anyone who's seen it. Who does Little Bei end up with? Yasu (my guess) or Richie? Spoil me...And are there other OTPs?
