I have watched the first 20 minutes of Tatta Hitotsu no Koi and am in love. Where has it been all my life? Seriously. It looks like it’s going to be full of star-crossed, angsty, class-barred love. With probably a terminal illness. This just might be the best thing in jdramas since the makers of Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake decided that what an AIDS drama credits needed were repeated shots of Takeshi Kaneshiro on the beach. In leather pants. And a white shirt. Getting hosed down. Or maybe just the best thing since Yamapi discovered trenchcoats.
For those who have missed the flaily posts on my LJ, THnK is a good, old-fashioned angsty love dorama. There is Hiroto, a poor boy played by Kamenashi Kazuya. I finally get
winterspel’s fangirling. This is my first Kame dorama and…ummm…ummm…ummm….ohmygodheisentirelytoohotandithinkilostanyselfrespectihadbecauseheisprettierthaniam. Yeah. I think Nobuta Wo Produce just moved even higher on my list of things to watch.
Hiroto is someone who sees no prospects in his life and no future either. He hangs out with a bunch of friends and knows none of them are ever going anywhere. He has a tough outer shell and is a bitter cynic (I am sure we’ll find out exactly from which trauma, yay), but underneath it all, he is very young and not as tough as he would want to be: he crashes a rich girls’ party and gets their phone numbers and tells his friends he’ll use them (the girls) for money and then as he walks on by himself actually throws the numbers away. That’s him in a nutshell.
There is Nao, a fragile rich girl played by no idea who, but she is sweet and adorable and a bit spacey and I want to put her in my pocket. And maybe make her a pair of mittens.
There is a meet-cute involving her bumping into his bucket of fish that he is taking to sell (YES) and snark and his collecting the fish as she is annoyed about her ruined outfit. There is his spotting her at the party he crashed and the totally adorable interaction: she asks him why he is staring at her and he tells her it’s because there was a bug on the wall behind her. Heh. Did I mention she thinks he is a uni student? The actors have excellent chemistry, and she really makes him lose his composure and the dorama pulls out all the stops with the slow-motion walk and voice-overs and a totally rocking soundtrack. I totally WANT that sountrack. I also want to get home so I can continue to binge.
I can’t wait to see if she will die or he will die or they will both commit suicide. It seems to be perfectly set towards aaaaaangst.
And speaking of things to watch. Here’s a poll. Once I finish Kurosagi which dorama should I tackle next?
[Poll #852167]
ETA: ARGH. I've misspelled Takuya Kimura's name in the poll. And can't edit it. GRRR.
