Love Contract is KILLING me

But OMG, the scene at the beach in 13. When she asks him to meet her there (for his birthday) and he is complaining the beach is all dirty and touristy (though it's deserted since it's night) and she comes out with cake with candles and the look on his face is such an incredulous surprise, as if he can't believe something this nice can happen to him. And then he starts making a wish and it's very sweet but it keeps on going and going and going, so she smooshes the cake in his face. ROFL. If this doesn't sum up their relationship, nothing does.
She says that she went to all that trouble and first he was all complaining like a senior citizen and that's OK, and then his bday wish is a wish subdivided into 80 parts, and he fishes some fireworky things out of his bag and says he isn't entirely unromantic and they play-acting a mock war thing where they are 'opposing armies' and the fireworks are ammunition (heeee) and as she is hiding he sneaks up on her and fireworks go off and it's all so pretty and they are so adorable.
And then he says 'I'll treat you to some cake' and she rejoins 'There is no more cake. What is there to eat?' And he grins 'there is' and points at his mouth (OMG OMG OMG) and she is cracking up too and then he leans in to kiss her and I love that she is always a bit skittish and hesitant but always leans in too, and she closes her eyes slowly and then they have a brain-melting kiss.
And later, I love it when they go to the amusement park and he is scared of heights so they end up with one really little kid attraction and he tells her he will get her her two wishes on the merry go round and they are having so much fun and laughing and he gets behind her on her horse. And they stay out all night and when he walks her home, she starts to go upstairs but can't because he is still holding her hand. And then she pauses and tells him to close his eyes and she comes down and I love that she has to stand on tiptoes to reach, and she puts a pendant around his neck and tells him thank you for being by her side. And runs up. And he just looks after her, and then he lightly touches the pendant to his lips before putting it into his shirt.
And they are at the hot springs later and I love when she has her head on his shoulder and she is *this* close to telling him about her scar and he is kissing and stroking her hair, never stopping these little movements and she touches his shoulder and the whole thing is so in love like. Eeeeee!
I love how slowly love made them better: she is gentler and he is more relaxed and both are happy for once. I love when he takes her to the secret hideaway on the beach.
But then, because they've been happy for a bit without misery, his Mom ends up running after someone she thinks is his Dad and drops her inhaler and then has an attack and that's it. She can't even pick up the phone when he rings, worried. I feel horrible for Ken. He doesn't seem to ask much of life, just a bit of quiet happiness, but it's denied him.
