Marry Me, Mike He!

Yeah, I am spamming.
However, I just watched the last part of the last episode of Marry Me, unsubbed (Mike He's last drama, where I would KILL someone for subs) on youtube and I have the brief following observations I simply MUST share.
1. Mike He? Is unbearably, freakishly gorgeous and hot. He must be some sort of genentic mutant. Whatever it is...it makes me revert to a three year old.
2. Will he EVER have a drama where he both has good hair AND gets a happy ending? DBY had a happy ending, but a haircut of DOOM and the rest of his dramas are of 'this protagonist will be better off slitting his wrists' variety. I cried so much in Love Contract, I think I got sick. And this totally seems like LC mark 2 which makes sense as it's apparently the same writer/director.
3. Holding your dead bride in your arms, with her still wearing the wedding dress, and you sprawled on the ground? OMG!Angst!!!! And I want to watch moooooooore of it. Why can't I pick up Chinese by osmosis?
4. And now he is shaking her and crying. And then he just sits on the ground with her wrapped around in his arms and sobs and rubs her arms. I have no freaking clue who these people are but I am an easy crier and it gets me so badly. Oh God. So Love Contract Mark Two, only scarily, less depressing.
5. Dude, now they are playing an emo version of the wedding march, and I am sorry, this is an overflow of angst so I am giggling. Am a bad person, clearly.
Here is the last part of the last ep:
6. Googling 'Marry Me Mike He' makes one feel like a freak. Especially since
tatterpunk already has dibs on him.
Here is the playlist for Marry Me if you want to check the drama out for yourself

Date: 2007-02-01 05:17 am (UTC)Love Contract has a depressing and/or confusing ending (I am still trying to figure out what happened) but it's really excellent (well, the friends parts are boring but the otp parts are to die for). It has the best drama kiss ever or close. And Ariel Lin and Mike He have incredible chemistry.
I have no idea if you've seen Devil Beside You but that one is fluffy and he is the lead. I like it less than most people (it's a very popular drama) but it's a fun watch...

Date: 2007-02-01 05:38 am (UTC)If you want to see my top 10 twdramas in order of preference list, here it is:
1. Mars (watch!watch!watch!)
2. Meteor Garden (but since it's a different version of Hanadan, you are probably better off waiting until Hanadan is over)
3. It Started with a Kiss
4. Hana Kimi
5. Silence (I love it, but it's the most depressing thing I've ever seen)
6. Love Contract (flawed but when it's good, it's amazing)
7. Smiling Pasta (cute and adorable and sweet and awwww)
8. Tokyo Juliet (I love it. Very very shoujo)
9. Devil Beside You
10. Magicians of Love
I also have a huge list of to-watch twdramas :)

Date: 2007-02-01 04:35 am (UTC)I saw the first like, episode and a half (you know about my Three Episodes to Win Me Over Rule of Taiwanese/Japanese Drama), and thought, "Huh. It's...surprisingly not as good as this should be. Maybe I'll wait for it all to end and see."
AND NOW, WTF.
I have no idea why, based on the first few episodes that I saw in a bit of a haze at the end of last summer, she would die. Because...no. Doesn't make sense, really. I suppose seeing all the other episodes in between would change my perception of the characters and such. I really wish there were subs so we could discuss!
As a side note, Mike He? Cries very prettily.

Date: 2007-02-01 05:26 am (UTC)I am dying to see this. I am that shallow and Mike He (together with Vic, Joe Cheng and Yamapi) is one of the few drama guys I'll watch anything with. Plus it does seem interesting.
A subber group was asking opinions for which twdramas they should sub so I put my little measly vote for Marry Me. Guuuuuh, I wish I had Chinese skills. Or maybe when
And yeah, he does cry so prettily. *sigh*

Date: 2007-02-01 05:49 am (UTC)My Mandarin is fair, but not native speaker-esque - period dramas drive me insane sometimes because of the formal language that they use sometimes. If I had time, I'd totally try to sub for you, I really would, but I don't trust my own language skills enough to provide an accurate translation.
Express Boy was pretty depressing too, actually. Seriously, if Exchange Love ends with tragedy and character death, I'm going to start some sort of petition or something.

You are in med school! No way would I impose like this!
The good news are that apparently there seems to be a sub group forming to Marry Me *crosses fingers and toes*
I like Love Contract. It's one that gives your ff button a work out (all the supporting characters are as interesting as dried grass) but when it deals with OTP (Ariel and Mike) it has this sweetness and awesomeness rarely seen.
Re: Exchange Love. It's about body swapping. How horrible could the ending be? Well, seeing it's Mike He? *dreads the ending*
And yeah, Mike He is the only actor that comes close to Vic in terms of hotness.
And speaking of hotties and period dramas, did you know that Joe Cheng apparently has this huge period drama coming up? *salivates*

Date: 2007-02-01 04:28 pm (UTC)I'm glad that there's a sub group starting for "Marry Me" -- there isn't nearly enough Mike He subbed drama out there!
I hadn't heard about Joe Cheng's new period drama! I haven't really seen him in anything other than ISWAK and a few episodes of "The Rose", so I'd love to see how he handles this.

Date: 2007-02-01 04:51 pm (UTC)Yeah, JC has a whole bunch of dramas coming out. ISWAK2 (when will they start filming argh!) and one based on a manga where he is a bratty male model (heee) and the heroine is best friends with his sister and falls for him (she is older) etc. And then this period one. Which is going to be 40 eps, I think (!!!!) I am pretty sure ISWAK2 will be subbed and I will actually live if the period drama won't get picked up for subbing but I am all anxious for the manga-model-one to be subbed.
I've also seen him in Magic Ring (horrible but comprehensibe subs) which I haven't finished because it has the worst heroine ever (I want to strangle her. Think the 'other woman' in kdramas, only she's the lead) but he is totally awesome in it as this gorgeously dressed 'bad boy' lawyer (!!!!) who has daddy issues and falls for a girl he believes his sister in law. Mmmmm, angst!

Date: 2007-02-01 05:53 am (UTC)i couldn't agree more on that one. this drama looks really good but would is be sooo hard for him to have drama where everything aligns, good hair *giggles at the dby hair* and a happy ending, is it tooo much to ask for???
i quite agree that he has to be a genetic mutant because the boy is soooooooooo fine, if i wasn't married and actually absorbed chinese like my sister who went to school for it,i would be all over him

Oh my. It's inhuman to be this goodlooking.
I am just hoping Exchange Love breaks the jinx of good hair=doom.

Date: 2007-02-01 04:53 pm (UTC)I can't see how EL won't have a happy ending but who knows...
the ballad of xiao ching and mike he
Date: 2007-02-01 07:08 am (UTC)Basically, you got the gist of most of it - he's cradling her and pleading with her to get up, and that she was supposed to marry him, as he mimes putting the ring on her hand, and then softly gauzy flashback to their relationship, and her saying, 'you have to marry me' and then him doing the adorable shadow puppet wings on her and her saying, 'catch me, catch me' and then the funeral river scene with their clothes...I caught about every third word, sorry - my fluency comes and goes. Much like the river!
Dead Fiancee voice over: "don't let go/forget me" "I love you."
and...I'm guessing on this one, "The sky is so white/clear and the rain is so sweet/cold.....[ ]" and the might have been them frolicking in the waves and him saying, "Wife, I'm coming to get you! I'm here!" (and hey, this ending is looking a lot like Love Contract's ending)
DFVO: "no matter where you are, I always want to be with you"
DFVO: "Let's get married."
Then him and blindingly white garbed girl are talking about the kite.
Then he says that getting married isn't important, but what comes after, and he describes a perfect day - eating ice cream, etc.
and then the rest of the conversation just made me go WTF?
Re: the ballad of xiao ching and mike he
Date: 2007-02-01 04:54 pm (UTC)Yeah, angst all around. No idea about the wedding dress as I didn't see anything prior to it. Maybe she was on the way to the Church and keeled over :)

where you can post all kinds of stuff, picturespams, manifestos, random gushing. Any chance you could be persuaded to do some? Seems to be just like your style (hey you could even recycle some old ones) :D Maybe some BW movie couple, dorama or black and white movie couples? How about some Max/Liz or Max/Logan or Padme/Anakin?
Somebody just posted a manifesto for a Black&White movie couple and immediately I thought of you.
