Let music soothe the savage beast...
May. 8th, 2006 12:31 amOMG. GetBackers. I love you. I am beginning to wonder about TPTB: they really seem to like the high art. First is was music (classical violins, no less) and now impressionist painting. I do wonder more and more about Ban's background. First we find out he is an excellent violinist and now that he is really knowledgeable about art? Hmmmm. I am also delighted by Himiko being back and amused at her "bring it on, Ban. I am going to enjoy fighting you" attitude, as for her the 'fight' she craves seems to be closer to co-ed naked wrestling. Heh.
Also, it was cool to meet what's his name from Ginji's gang, the one who dresses like a girl and fights with wire. Cool.
But forget all this, because I want to talk about Shido. And Shido/Midoka which are just SO OTP it's crazy. Cause she is tiny and blind and a really good person and yet not Mary Suish at all (when she kicks that huge bad guy in the sensitive place? Heeee). And he is all quiet and solitary and former member of Ginji's now disbanded gang who is now working for the bad guy, but he totally helps her out instead. I love it when she gets into the violin room (she hired Ban and Ginji to recover her Stradivarius and Shido is one of the people working for the guy who stole it) and she is tiny so she can't reach the violin and he reaches for it for her and gives it to her. And asks her to play it. And then later, when he finds out that his employer is actually going to have her bumped off and he rushes out there to save her. And of course, later, during his fight with the evil bad guy, she senses he is in trouble and she starts running to him, even though she can't see the way? OMG. Adorableness. Or that Shido clearly has issues with no one wanting him or caring about whether he lives or dies, but that she arrives at his losing fight and shows she cares and it's just so...squee. Adorableness times 10. And she stops him from killing the bad guy, simply by asking him not to. And he steals her violin and she tells Ban and Ginji it's OK, she doesn't mind. And right before her concert he comes to bring it back and she offers to play for him and his 'friends' (aka animals) and so she and Ban end up playing a duet outside in the alley so the animals can be there too and he is all kinda melty and taken aback about her being so matter of fact about accepting him and his weird quirks. Adorableness times a 100. And then, since he obviously can't go back to his employer, she has him move in with her, and he asks her how long she
she's been blind and she says since birth and music is how she sees things and he asks her to play for him. OK. Forget adorableness. I want to give them carrots and lettuce and a hamster wheel. That's how adorable they are.
There is also some sort of dangerous past he has and his saying he would protect her from it with his life. Yeah. OTP. I just like how completely open and accepting and (probably because she is rather unworldly) straightforward and caring she is. Someone like Shido needs certainty of love. And he's got it. Eeeeeee.
