Finished MeruPuri and my brief 10 thoughts on it follow:
1. The time jumps got a bit confusing. I am also confused whether there was only one 2.5 year jump or two of them. There had to be at least two, to get Aram from 12 to 17, but how old are Jeile's kids? There is 'he's been liking Airi for 2.5 years' right before he hooks up with his wife, but his kids are NO way less than two. Am confused.
2. Am I correct in thinking that Jeile hooked up with both Lei's sister AND the grown-up fairy? Heh. And I noticed no mention of him disbanding his harem. Good for Jeile...
3. Airi, you don't need to remind Aram you are 20, when he is 17. He knows.
4. Raz is still boring. Boring, boring, boring. I hope he is stuck in the real world forever.
5. How did they solve the problem with her family? I don't think 'Mom, I am marrying a Prince of a magical kingdom' is going to cut it.
6. Not enough angst. I don't necessarily need Mars or Fushigi Yuugi levels of angst, but more angst would have been nice.
7. Jeile's 'reverse' spell is hilarious. And I do hope that 'maiden' in 'maiden's kiss' means 'girl' and not 'virgin' as otherwise, that is going to be one useless panacea right after the volume is over, considering what Aram and Airi are engaging in.
8. If I came home from a hard day's studying and discovered my unbelievably sexy fiancee asleep on the bed in really cool clothes, which are half off, I'd definitely do what Airi is doing: go for the waistband. Heeee.
9. Hot Royal? Check. Magic Use? Check. Cute Clothes? Check. Why, oh why, do I not own a magic mirror?
10. This is one heck of a weird story, when you think about it.
And I keep thinking about Logan and Veronica in Tuesday's ep.
I am still thinking about the fact that until prom night (and the following morning), neither Logan nor Veronica knew the other person loved them. But with Logan's declaration and with seeing Veronica come to him (and first moves are very rare for her), and then cry over him, neither V nor L are ignorant any more (though I guess Veronica can think he didn't mean it).
Up until that point, Logan probably thought that V only dated him because Duncan wasn't available and when Duncan dropped the handkerchief, V went back to him. But now, after the morning-after scene, he knows she loves him.
And as to Veronica? True, over the summer Logan told her he was in love with her, but Veronica is someone who's been burned too many times and to her the proof was not in the words but actions. And all she saw was this boy she was totally into wouldn't give up the class war (though it was more like a class scuffle) even though she disapproved (though if she told him to choose, no question Logan would pick her, but she never did and she doesn't know that). Who knows why he said the 'in love' part. Logan has a reputation after all.
And her not knowing he is so crazy about her throws their interaction in early S2 in a completely knew light. Before I was quite mad at her for the way she treated Logan, because I thought she knew how nuts he was for her, and if you know you have the whip hand, it's horrible to use it. But if she is someone who developed a thing for him but didn't think he liked her back and repressed it, it's a whole other matter.
I actually think this is where Logan is reaping what he's sown when he was so mean to her after Lilly's death. This is why she comes down harder on him (this, and the fact that she is so emotionally overwhelmed when it comes to him). While we know, and even Veronica probably intellectually knows, that it's his behavior after Lilly's death that was the aberration, not his being nice and open to her, a part of her is unsure about it all not being temporary and his reverting at any time to the OPJ. It's not a rational thing, it's an emotional thing, because of their baggage. So any time he does something potentially problematic, this adds extra weight to her evaluation (I am not getting it across very well, am I?) and feeds into her trust issues and her view of Logan's character. If they had time to be in a stressor-free relationship for a bit, this would go away, but they haven't yet. The most time they had together was a month plus over the summer, and it had class war and Logan's trial.
Ahh, crazy kids. Get it together and snog already.
