OMG! Heavy Duty Angst
Feb. 19th, 2006 12:26 amMy stupid Meteor Garden DVD cut out the scene where Shan Cai finally told Dao Ming Si that they were going to be together (he wanted to move out and break with his parents for her sake). Argh! What a scene to cut out! I am annoyed but not too much because my official DVD from yesasia should get here next week so I should be able to see it.
Dammit. But it did leave in the angsty angsty angsty break-up in the rain scene. Where Shan-Cai (who had finally got defeated by Evil Mother who threatened all her friends and family if she didn't break up and promise to never have anything to do with Dao Ming family ever again) told DMS, in the pouring rain-storm, she is leaving forever and that she can't be with him, and he can't believe it and is "didn't you tell me this morning you wanted to be with me?" and then he asks her "I was willing to give up my family, my mother, everything for you. Did you ever even like me?" And Shan Cai replies "Actually, I never liked you, otherwise I couldn't do this" and he just freezes and she walks off and you see her crying and she is thinking that she is in love with him. So much pretty angst. And she leaves him standing stock still in the rain thinking pretty, very angsty thoughts about not existing any more and being numb.
The angst monster, she is happy.
Where is the wrist-slashing???? They tease me with pictures, the monsters...
ETA: Hmmm. He is back to his acting-out self. And he is getting smashed. They should get back together before someone will get killed and he will have to go to jail. And poor Shan Cai, if she keeps up her whole "I can't sleep because if I close my eyes I just see DMS the way I left him there, in the rain," she is going to hallucinate. Aaaangst. Also, Girl, when you check your messages after a few days away and don't see any from DMS, you really shouldn't go tragically "did DMS forget about me?" when last time you saw him you cut his heart into bit-sized pieces and stomped on the pieces with cleats. Expecting messages in such circumstances would be a bit...optimistic.
ETA2: Lei is SUCH a good friend. "You might have given up on love, but you didn't forfeit your right to friendship." And he came to fetch her. Guuuh. And I love DMS basically being all emotional zombie and thinking "I was ready to give up my family for her, but some things can't be forced. I finally understand, the more of yourself you put in, the more you will get hurt." Come on, Shan-Cai, make the poor boy feel better!
ETA3: OMG! DMS just told SC that he is fed up with feeling like a puppet and she doesn't need to try to avoid him in school any more because from now on, they will be strangers who won't interact. And he told her he is setting her free. And she gave him back the pendant he had made especially for her and he threw it in the river and walked away. Argh. Angst overload here. Especially when she thinks "I like you. I could barely keep myself from saying that. For a moment I was ready to throw away my friends and family, my pride and dignity. I like you." Awwwwwww. Frell.
