Battlestar Galactica: Scar
Feb. 4th, 2006 02:01 amOh. My. God.
My favorite episode of the season.
First, allow me to fangirl. OMG OMG OMG OMG! Kara. Lee. KaraLee Kara Lee argh. I jumped back on that ship with both feet and arms. Damn you, Ron Moore! But in a very happy, satisfied way.
I love the scene of them drinking and talking about not being to remember all those who died. And knowing they can't live in Roslin's paradise. And then it transforms into making out and it's just as hot and fucked up as I thought it would be. And it's clear he is more emotionally involved than she is and he, I think, is absolutely right when he says she can deal with the dead guys, it's the living ones she can't handle. Because dead people are "safe" impossible to disappoint, can't hurt you. And she slaps him and kisses him right after. She is a person who can't control herself very well and she is so conflicted and fucked up and I think yet, this is doing a number on Lee too. Because clearly, he likes her more as a friend. And I do think he is a very good friend to her (see morning after). God, I love their dynamic.
I also loved the scene between Kara and Sharon. Boomer comes across as more and more human with every episode and her "how many pilots have we lost" (italics mine), quickly corrected, and her recognizing of old memories is just...
I like that Helo is also Kara's support system, in a different way from Lee. She is not as close to him but it's not as complicated between them either. And I love that Kara is probably the only person Lee shows his vulnerability to. Can you imagine him telling about how what bothers him most is not remembering the faces to anyone else).
I also loved the Kat-Kara confrontation. With so many alphas in such stress, I am surprised it didn't happen sooner.
Loved the final scene with Kara saluting all those dead and the look on Lee's face when she starts and he realizes that she does remember all the names. And I love the last scene with Kara and Helo. I just love the vibe between them.
As to the Twu Wuv between Kara and Anders? A bit sudden but I am willing to buy it for reasons in my earlier BSG posts. And of course he is the straw hat broke the camel back. It's not just that yet another guy she loved bought it. It's the whole her father figure odered her to kill Cain, someone she admired, herbest friend is suicidal, her pilots keep dying, and oh yeah, end of the world.
Above all, I loved how human this episode made Kara. She is not super-Starbuck. She is a really interesting, sometimes unsympathetic, wholly human person.
