Dark Angel Pilot: Mmmmm, Logan
Nov. 17th, 2005 11:25 pmSo, I decided to do the right thing for once and start watching a series from the beginning (we'll just ignore me watching the first three eps of season 2, shall we?)
Quote of the Ep: "Girls Kick Ass. I saw it on a t-shirt." (Max explaining how she dropped a 250lb bodyguard without breaking a sweat).
I really really like it. Max in the Pilot actually reminds me of Buffy. Of Buffy who hadn't accepted her "destiny" that is. I really like her mouthy tough girl act because you can see she is vulnerable underneath. And I like her cynical, hardcore act with Logan. She isn't in it for ideals. Not yet.
I also adore Logan (there really must be good karma associated with the name in TV land), who is snarky, and clever, and can walk (at least in the beginning) and reminds me of way too many grad student idealists, but in a very good way. And Max/Logan chemistry? Whoa. I love the scene where she breaks into his apartment to steal stuff, but even more, I love the scene where she comes back because he broke into her place and left her a statuette and there is snark and flirt and plot points and his knowing what she is and her being off-balance by him. HOT. And he looks even hotter when he shaves.
Plus, I have a thing for the pairings where the guy is more idealistic/intellectual of the two, and the girl is a more pragmatic, hardened fighter. See Kara/Lee, John/Aeryn. Heck, even Logan (Echolls)/Veronica where she is way tougher than he is and he is more emotional. So it totally feeds that kink.
Also, Jessica Alba=girlcrush.
ETA: I am on the third ep of first season now, and so much Logan/Max love. I love that he beeps her and she thinks it's an emergency of some kind but it's for a nice dinner instead, candles and all, and that they talk and connect and he is so concerned about her seizures and is so comforting and that she asks him to stay with herm and he strokes her forehead...guuuuuh. And then later he finds out Original Cindy flushed her meds down the toilet and gets so concerned and does all he can to bust Max out of prison. And the chemistry is still psycho. Love.
