dangermousie: (ISWAK first kiss by pinkfactory)

Yup, still in tropical paradise. Had a bizarre dream in which the Winchester brothers ended up on Moya, which is probably a hint I should watch more Farscape but not before bed.

Watched the second ep of Samurai Champloo which was neat and second episode of Hana Kimi which was neater. I just love how close to the manga this is, and how spot on characters are. I am seriously falling in love with Quan (Sano) all over again. I love how he is amused by Rui Xi's subterfuge and so he gives her enough time to change into her boy-compliant stuff and she accuses him of 'laughing at her secretly,' and I love that he walks into the bathroom as she is taking a bath and ends up walking out hastily and fixating :D I love Rui Xi's stubborn attempts to make up with him after their fight. Quan is very good at shutting out, isn't he? And I love his growing confusion about his feelings as he wonders why he was so mean to that girl just to protect Rui Xi. And the whole bit where he runs to 'save' her from Nan (though there is no need) and ends up telling her the real reason he quit high-jump, about being afraid of the pressure. And Rui Xi (who is beyond adorable) being clueless and wondering why he decided to jump again and he is being all wryly resigned about her incomprehension of his feelings. Guuuuuuuh, I love their dynamics. And she is crying and he totally wants to hug her and comfort her but he knows he can't because she is supposed to be a guy and so he is just being awkward and eeeeeeee!

The thing I love about him, besides his being so amused and such a nice guy, is that he is very 'boy.' He will make an awesome partner for Rui Xi but I can't imagine him doing flowery speeches or giving her lots of fancy presents or what not. He is just a really really good, protective, caring guy.

Xiu Yi (Nakatsu) continues to crack me up.

Oh, and side note? Mmmmmm...shirtless Quan. I was cracking up at Rui Xi sneaking quick peeks. LOL

I have also finished the Takizawa Hideaki jdrama Boku Dake No Madonna though judicious use of ff button. TH was excellent in it (and was angsting most prettily in the shower) but the female lead drove me nuts. That is actually a big chunk of the reason I adore kdramas and twdramas but not jdramas for most part. The female leads. Most times, I fall madly for the female leads in a kdrama (usually before I fall for the hero, actually). And most times, that's true for twdramas too. But in jdramas, with a few exceptions, I want to strangle them, and here was no exception. I totally loathed her and she never changed. Still, worth watching for the scenes of TH running through the city in search of her in a suit, looking angsty and hot and awesome. And then, he is standing in a shallow canal, still sweaty and in a suit (long story) and he pulls her into a hug from behind and it's just...guuuuuuh. Or the scene at the end where he found her and told her he loved her and there was a hell of a lot of awesome kissing.

Now I am sort of torn. I don't want to watch a jdrama, so I am probably going to finish Magicians of Love. I have a mad yen to rewatch Mars though (both of which dramas I have here). I'd actually rewatch Meteor Garden which I also have here, but HYD 2 is going to start before I finish and I don't want to be confused. Helpful hints?

I still have the bulk of S2 of Farscape to get through, and Samurai Champloo, and I started Nana the anime (very pretty) but I am thinking of doramas as well...

I agree. Also I find (apart from Takizawa Hideaki and Takeshi Kaneshiro) Korean male actors much more attractive. :D

I'd add Yamapi to the list, but yes. Of course, Takeshi Kaneshiro is half Chinese :)

Actually, I find Taiwanese actors (Vic Zhou! Mike He! Joe Cheng! Jerry Yan! Wu Zun!) most appealing of all :)

I agree with you both. Apart from Yamapi and TK I've also found the Taiwanese actors very attractive (YES! to Vic Chou, Mike He, Joe Cheng and Jerry Yan -though I think he's a bit too aware of his good looks, haven't yet encoutered Wu Zun).

The Koreans always sem to have hot leads and just as hot secondary characters. I'm currently swooning over both Hyun Bin, who is the leading man, and Im Jun Hwa who plays the doctor in The Snow Queen.

Korean actors seem to really appeal to me the most (Ji Hoon, Dong-won, Rain). Then comes the Taiwanese (Jerry Yan). I have a hard time warming to Japanese actors (YamaPi, Kimura Takuya and Hideaki Takizawa).

But still.. to me, no one has the mastery over Takeshi Kaneshiro. Not yet anyway *grins*

Heeee. Oh, don't worry. I am definitely watching. But I'll need to be home with a faster connection in order to watch this. I was thinking about the rest of the week, while I am on vacation. Magicians won, so far.

Y'know, I think the only female leads I've had any problems with have been in kdramas. I could never warm up to Chaegyung in Goong, and while I really like Jung-Hwa, the main girl in "Emperor of the Sea" as a strong, intelligent and independent woman, as the female half of the OTP she drives me batty because I want to shake her and tell her there's nothing wong with wanting to be happy(and to tell her that if she doesn'r want Yum Moon, I'll take him, but that's another thing altogether)

But then, I find that, in gneral, I like the female leads in shows and movies more than most, anyway.

Speaking of annoying korean female leads... I'm on episode 8 of My Name is Kim Sam Soon, and I'm starting to hate her.

From: [identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com
That one's on my list.

I think my problem with Chaegyung was that 90% of the time, she was more cutesy than cute, and I couldn't help but constantly compare her to Xiang Qin in ISWAK, who was pure adorable and a very similar character.

Date: 2006-12-29 01:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] grey-fuzzy.livejournal.com
I know what you mean about Chaeqyung, some of her mannerisms seemed a little contrived, especially in the beginning. What gave her points for me was that she was able to maintain some dignity throughout the series, whereas Xiang Qin just kept following Zhu Shi, and it wasn't until the very very end that he finally was the one to go to her.

I found Sam Soon's voice a little annoying at first, especially when she screams and goes all whacky. But towards the end she did justice during the emotional scenes.

MNIKSS is one of my fave doramas though. And that's saying something as I'm not particularly a fan of Kim Seon-ah or Hyun Bin. I just found the plot/script and cast really great. Thank you TPTB! ^o^

That was quite possibly the funniest thing I've seen in HanaKimi. The expression on his face and then just two frames of him staring at his hand. I nearly died.

True. I have a hard time warming to leads in j-dramas too. But Strawberry on the Shortcake (Takizawa Hideaki and Kyoko Fukada) and Kamisama were both awesomeness on the protagonists part ^o^

I don't know who the actress in Kamisama is, but Fukada Kyoko, based on "Remote" and the episodes I've seen of "Fugoh Keiji"(very cute and fun, but a "doses" show as opposed to a "binge" show) is like Nakama Yukie in that she's just an inherently likable actress unless she's playing a role you're supposed to hate.

Date: 2006-12-29 03:36 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] miss-dian.livejournal.com
The actress in Kamisama was Kyoko Fukada.

And now that you mention Nakama Yukie, I realise that there are actually a few more j-actresses that I like, including Nakama Yukie and Horikita Maki (much thanks to Kurosagi and Trick the movie).
