I am going to hell.
Hell, hell, HELL.
Because
kitsune714 just linked me to the trailer of an upcoming Japanese movie, Boku wa imouto ni koi wo suru which is an adaptation of a famous manga, and I am in love with it and can't wait to see it, even though the title for it is translated 'I am in love with my little sister' and is actually about franternal twins falling in love with each other.
I am going to HELL.
But come on! It has Matsumoto Jun (who I lost my heart to as Shin in Gokusen and who is Domyouji in Hana Yori Dango *swoon*) with good hair, in school uniform, and being all angsty and passionately repressed. And the music is gorgeous, and they look so OTPish and there is angsty hugging and I love MatsuJun's serious voice. I am in love with this already.
What is dorama/Asian cinema doing to me? First it was the teacher/student stuff of Forbidden Love, then I ended up shipping the half-siblings (it was unrequited in that movie) in the Korean movie in Temptation of Wolves (which is an awesome movie) and now this!
I am going to hell.
And speaking of MatsuJun, the ff.net scouring (I actually found a good HYD fic, and it was Domyouji/Tsukushi, which is awesome since I love Rui and all but no one is allowed to come between the OTP. Plus, Rui/Shizuka!!!) made me want to rewatch/re-read some Hana Yori Dango in some shape or form. I have to say, I am glad I never encountered manga in my formative years. I can just see self fixating on the whole jerk who is actually angry, messed up boy who will in reality love you enough to be willing to die for you trope and in RL the jerk is just a jerk and not this hidden amazing guy.
So, since I knew if I started rewatching any part of Meteor Garden, I'd be up until 5 am, because I'd go from scene to scene, I decided to watch some of the jdrama instead (which I like but am not as obsessive over) and was rewatching my favorite scene, aka Domyouji running to rescue Tsukushi even though he knows it's a trap and getting beaten within an inch of his life because if he even tries to fight back, they will hurt Tsukushi. That scene in (in any version, manga, anime, MG or HYD jdrama) is one of my favorite things in this world. OMG, when he just fixates on Tsukushi even though Sakurako is yelling in his face and he is on the floor nearly unconscious and she manages to get free and shield him with her body and then the thugs finally leave and she asks him if he's OK and he is barely able to talk and tells her 'Of course I am not OK.' I love.
Which makes me think of which scenes from the manga I want in Hana Yori Dango 2.
1. Tsukushi as maid in Domyouji's house. Because it will be adorable and hilarious. And especially for the scene in the rain where she tells him she's never loved him. Because I adore my angst.
2. Domyouji getting shot by the crazy guy with a grudge against his family and Tsukushi getting him to the hospital. Beause I love my h/c and because no previous version had this in it.
3. Domyouji running after the bus which is taking Tsukushi away. Because I adore that scene in Meteor Garden beyond all reason and hey, it's a jdrama, we have to have pretty, desperate running.
4. The whole thing with the hot springs. Because OMG perfection. And angst. And jealousy. And awesomeness.
5. The hypothermia in Canada thing. Though to be honest, if it did happen, I'd faint in shock.
6. More Soujiro/Yuki in whatever shape.
Two things I don't want:
1. Junpei. I know he is in HYD2 and I am confused as to why, as his role was taken over by Sakurako (see my favorite scene) in HYD. But I trust TPTB to integrate him well.
2. Pleasepleaseplease don't break up Rui and Shizuka. Please?
And in further Hana Yori Dango 2 news, behind the cut is a youtube video of some Japanese program which has clips from HYS2. New York! EEEEE.

Date: 2006-12-22 05:20 am (UTC)I always adored this sequence in Meteor Garden, because, okay, F4 = not that great of actors then, but oh my god, I didn't care, because I totally bought into it. And Shan Cai and Lei! Being silly and attacking each other with pillows! *dies*

See, I spent large chunks of my adolescence in the back corner of a Kinokuniya and the back corner of the local Barnes and Noble, reading way too much shojou manga for my own good, which was probably not that healthy. Thank god for my girlfriends (and "Dawson's Creek") who taught me that sometimes, a guy who you think might be secretly a repressed woobie is really just a tool.

Date: 2006-12-22 05:34 am (UTC)Exactly. I really did think it showed how much DMS grew up as a person, the way he behaved with the 'fiancee.' Firm but very quietly nice. I love it when he tells her she can hit him. And the morning after when he and Shan Cai just sit outside quietly (and Jerry Yan should be mandated to wear all black).
And Lei and Shan Cai are one of my favorite friend!OTPs in dramas. Because they are being so adorable and you know what, I still can't believe it's the same people as the leads in Mars because not only is the vibe so different but the characters are night and day.

Date: 2006-12-22 07:27 am (UTC)So obviously, thank yur for the trailer. Hee.
AND WHERE IS THAT WONDERFUL HYD FIC? You gotta share ~ ♥
Oh. 1 and 3! Because those are HYD token scenes!! (Pretty much like Domyouji waiting for Tsukushi in the rain was.)
I am remembering my love for HYD and Jun and Domyouji/Tsukushi and NOW I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Date: 2006-12-22 05:55 pm (UTC)But yeah, the movie looks good, disturbing or not. Apparently the manga/anime even has *gasp* sex scenes, but I doubt the movie would :D

Eeeeee! *love that scene*

Date: 2006-12-23 09:23 am (UTC)HYD has tons of OTP moments which are way cheesy but you love to indulge in them anyway. ><

Date: 2006-12-22 07:29 am (UTC)OMG I love love love that scene too. Uuuughhh need to get my Meteor Garden CDs from the parents house (and the fact that they live in a different state doesn't help much).
And eeeeeee.. the scenes in HYD2 that you described (I'm prone to reading spoilers) sound like absolute GLEE. I'm getting excited. I REALLY hope they have better hair otherwise I'd die.
And special hell? I'll join you there 'cause I'm bound to ship for Kang Dong-won in Temptation of Wolves. I am impatiently waiting for the DVD I bought from ebay :/

Date: 2006-12-22 05:57 pm (UTC)It's totally angsty and perfect and then he just slumps in the road and he looks up and she is standing in front of him and she is telling not to be an idiot and sit in the center of the road where he'll get hit :D

Date: 2006-12-22 10:59 am (UTC)Hmmm... now this will be the fourth movie/drama with an incestual theme in it I will be watching. Must be all those V.C. Andrews books in my formative years :(
And where is the HYD fanfic that was good?? Share please :)
Re. manga: boy jerks turn to wobbies
I think every young adolescent male in the Western world has to read at least two mangas, as to prevent them from becoming jerks for the rest of their lives :)

Date: 2006-12-22 12:18 pm (UTC)I just got HYD on DVD, but I mean to finish watching MG first, before I start on it. But from the brief glimpses I got of it while checking the discs, it looked good.
The hot springs segment of MG was so great!

Date: 2006-12-22 05:46 pm (UTC)HYD is quite good and very different in feel and vibe that I didn't feel like I was watching a rehash of MG (which you need to finish and post about :D). And the hot springs thing? EEEEEEEE!
What is your icon from?
