Some further thoughts on Cheatty Cheatty Bang Bang. This time they are in a more organized fashion, and mainly responses to reactions I've seen elsewhere.

On Jackie: why does everyone hate the girl? Is she the coolest person ever? Probably not. But she seems nice enough, if a bit bratty. She doesn't like "Pride and Prejudice?" So what. People at TWoP seem to be really incensed by it which leaves me rather puzzled. I enjoyed the book and the ITV (not BBC as they say in the ep) version, but do I think either is the pinnacle of human thought? No, there are books and movies I like better. I can also see (though I don't share the view) how someone would think Austen is trivial. My husband (e.g.) is not a huge Austen fan, yet I've yet to file for divorce. Really, in the scheme of things? Not important. Then there is also "she is going out with another guy" thing. Ummm, she and Wallace are hardly seriously dating. When you potentially go out with someone, doesn't mean you are already into exclusive dating. Yes, Veronica doesn't like her, she has best friend jealousy. But it doesn't make Jackie Satan Incarnate.

I've also seen people complain that this year Veronica is not an outsider and it's ruining the show for them. Once again, I am a bit puzzled. Everyone is obviously entitled to their own opinion, but the show works just fine for me. I never thought being an outsider was such a huge deal in S1: Veronica is very well able to stand up for herself. The inexplicable loss of Duncan bothers her. The fact that Logan who was a friend is now making her life a living hell bothers her. The fact that Madison isn't friendly any more? Not so much. Moreover, she is hardly Miss Popularity now. The 09ers tolerate her because she is Duncan's girlfriend, but I doubt there's bonding and Veronica and 09ers seem to largely keep out of each other's way, just as in S1. This season, she is hardly the Queen Bee. She spends her time with Wallace (like last season) and her boyfriend, just as last season she spent time with 09er Troy and then (briefly) 09er Logan. I don't seem much difference.

That scene with Logan and Veronica in his house: God, I love their snark. In fact, even though I enjoy the passionate making out, I could happily forego it, as long as they do get together eventually, and as long as we keep getting the fabulous scenes with the verbal play and the underlying feelings and chemistry. I do love that Logan isn't shmooping for Veronica. He still clearly has feelings for her, but he's broken the "begging to be taken back" pattern he's had with Lilly. Which is really really good, because as I said earlier, if he doesn't learn to stand up for himself and draw lines in relationship, the relationship is unhealthy in its power imbalance.

I also loved the scene with Kendall and Logan and Veronica's call. Logan-Veronica-Kendall threesome. The mind boggles, and there is a rift in space-time continuum. The ting is, while I think Kendall is pretty much up for a threesome, I doubt she was offering genuinely at that moment. It was basically a plot to see how Logan reacts, to see who Veronica was and what she meant to him. Of course, Logan, being Logan, is really good at recognizing and deflecting and hiding his real feelings under extravagant gestures (this time it's throwing the phone across the room).

Also, I so want Aaron back. The thought of scenes between Aaron and Logan leaves me breathlessly giddy. Please!
