Misc book stuff
Aug. 31st, 2005 04:38 pmA wonderful, short little Harry/Ginny fic set during the Bill & Fleur wedding. You should check it out:
Story found here.
Also, can anyone recommend a book to me? Something passionate (though it doesn't have to be romantic passion), with a lovely fluid style, angst, and just very emotional. Please?
Something that will make me gasp and cry.
Also, anyone who has not read Jorge Amado should do so right now. He is amazing. He was a Brazilian novelist who always had strong women protagonists, beautiful writing, and amazing detail.
My favorite book of his is "Tereza Batista, home from the wars." Tereza overcomes some truly horrible things and is one heck of a person. There's beautiful writing and true love there too.
I also adore "Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon" about a year in the life of a small 1920s Brazillian town and "Dona Flor and her two husbands" about a woman who is torn between her first (dead) husband whom she loved madly even though he was an irresponsible neglectful gambler and her current husband who is kind but dull.
Other good books by him are "Tent of Miracles," "Tieta," "Sword, pen, camisole," and "Miracle of the Saints" (I am unclear on the last two titles...need to look them up again).
