Well, might as well keep up the romancing in Bollywood topic going.

Bollywood movies remind me of silent films for more than one reason, but the pertinent one here is that if they find a couple works really well on-screen together they will pair them repeatedly, creating an on-screen team. So here are my favorite romantic couples. Only one condition. They have to have done more than one movie together.

Who: Shahrukh Khan and Kajol
Why: They are my favorite on-screen couple, and one I miss the most. They have chemistry that is both playful, deeply friendly, and scorching hot.
Movies: Baazigar: Shahrukh plays a killer who falls in love with Kajol despite himself. It's very kitchy. Karan Arjun: Sharhukh is a reincarnated twin (long story) who works as a groom and falls in love with a daughter of arms dealer. Even in a movie largely focusing on gory and macho, their chemistry still shines. Dilwale Dulhania le Jayenge: my favorite Bollywood movie. He is a spoilt son of an affectionate rich father. She is a traditional daughter of a strict family, promised in marriage to another. They meet and fall in love, and Shahrukh determines to prove himself to her parents. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai: best friends in college, they drift apart until his daughter reunites them years later. Kabhi Khushi Kabie Gham: they are the best part of this ensemble piece about a weathy family that falls apart when the eldest son marries against his parents' wishes. It's Kajol and SRK. Of course they'll get married!
Best: DDLJ. Longest running film in the history of Indian cinema
Fave romantic scene: DDLJ: The lovers' meeting in the mustard field after Raj followed Simran all the way to India

Who: Raj Kapoor, Nargis
Why: Even social movies need some romance. And their combo really did make the movies better.
Movies: Awaara: he is a thief neglected by society. She is his childhood angel. Shree 420: another social drama about an innocent in the big city, Chori Chori: an It Happened One Night remake, etc (they did 17 movies together!!!)
Best: Awaara.
Fave romantic scene: Awaara. At the end, where she visits him in jail

Who: Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee
Why: Because I need someone to replace SRK-Kajol. They are passionate, they are tongue-in-cheek, and he towers over her. Woo-hoo.
Movies: Bas Itna Kwab Hai: their romance is the only good part of this tedious idealist fable. Hum Tum: he is only a cameo as Rani's first husband, but boy did I want the movie to be about them! Yuva: they are disfunctional, they are passionate and they are the best thing to hit the screen since...forever as a hoodlum and his equally messed-up wife. Bunty aur Babli: as a pair of crooks with hearts of gold, they made me laugh and swoon.
Best: Yuva. It's a Mani Ratnam film
Fave romantic scene: song Chup Chupke in Bunty aur Babli

Who: Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta
Why: Their chemistry stole the movie from Shahrukh Khan in Kal Ho Na Ho. In fact, so good were they together, that I found it hard to feel sorry for Preity in not being able to marry Shahrukh as she clearly fit so much better with saif.
Movies: Kal Ho Na Ho: he is her easy-going best friend. Enter Shahrukh who tries to match the two, but there is a problem: Preity falls for him instead. Kya Kehna: He is a cad who leaves her pregnant and single. Cue the booooos. Salaam Namaste: upcoming (opening in August). Finally, a movie just focusing on the two of them. This makes Dangermousie a happy happy girl.
Best: Kal Ho Na Ho
Fave romantic scene: KHNH: Saif's wedding proposal. As he goes down on his knees with a bouqet of red roses telling her he knows she doesn't love him but he's got enough love for two, I catch myself (despite my Shahrukh obsession) yelling at her to not be an idiot and say "yes."

Who: Juhi Chawla, Aamir Khan
Why: They are puppy fun.
Movies: Ishq: they are a bickering couple in this horrid film, QSQT Romeo and Juliet, BW style, a bunch of others I am too lazy to look up
Best: QSQT
Fave Romantic scene: climax of QSQT. Don't want to give it away

Who: Salman Khan, Bhoomika Chawla
Why: Intense and angsty at its best
Movies: Tere Naam: he is a distured hoodlum obsessing over a priest's daughter. Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha: she is a patient who gets his wife's heart
Best: Tere Naam
Fave romantic scene: Tere Naam: he kidnaps her and breaks down.

Who: Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri
Why: See Abhishek and Rani.
Movies: Ek Nazar: he is a poet, she is a prostitute. Zanjeer: he is a policeman bent on revenge, she is a witness who falls in love with him, Sholay one of the most famous BW films of all time, Abhimaan: a loose interpretation of A Star is Born, Silsila: tale of marriage and infidelity, Mili: two lost souls find each other, K3G: old married couple.
Best: Sholay
Fave Romantic Scene: Mili: his breaking down and telling her about his murdered mother.

Who: Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra
Why: sizzle, sizzle, sizzle. There might not be friendship there, but the pure heat definitely is.
Movies:Andaaz: she lost him to Lara Dutta, Aitraaz: she lost him to Kareena Kapoor, Mujhe Shaadi Karoge: he lost her to Salman Khan. It's a good thing the pattern was broken in Waqt.
Best: MSK
Fave romantic scene: celebration of Holi in Waqt

Who: Kareena Kapoor, Fardeen Khan
Why: Wow, crazy chemistry. Almost made Khushi bearable
Movies: Khushi: stay away! Fida: thriller, Dev: about sectarian violence
Best: Dev
Fave romantic scene: Dev: he grabs and desperately kisses her, as his link to sanity.

Who: Juhi Chawla, Shahrukh Khan
Why: Not as passionate as the Kajol-SRK pairing, but it's a fun, sweet one nontheless
Movies: Yes Boss: remake of The Apartment, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman: young man corrputed by city life, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani: they are a pair of weaselly reporters who fall in love, 1 2 ka 4: remake of One Good Cop, upcoming Paheli: where she is his sister in law.
Best: RBGG
Fave romantic scene: Yes Boss: Juhi performs Karwa Chawth.

Who: Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan
Why: They just seem fun together
Movies: Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon: film as a form of torture, Mujhe Dosti Karogi: they don't end up together, Yaadein: best friends hook up.
Best: MDK
Fave romantic scene: Yaadein as he confronts her after his engagement and she claims they are only friends.

Who: Salman Khan, Aishwaria Rai
Why: OK, usually real-life couples suck on screen, but from the moment I saw them in HDDCS, I was hooked. Too bad they now won't come within 20 miles of each other.
Movies: Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam: she has a small role as his blind girlfriend. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam: he is a stranger she falls in love with, but her parents force her to marry another.
Best: HDDCS
Fave romantic scene: HDDCS: their meeting scene, with the swaying chandelier between them

Who: Aishwaria Rai, Shahrukh Khan
Why: She is icy with most actors but not with him. Together, they actually look like they are having fun.
Movies: Josh: he is a thug, she is his sister. Maybe it's me, but there are incesty vibes there. Mohabattein: she is the ghost of his true love he always sees. Devdas: disfunctional, very screwed-up and utterly hot. He takes to alcohol after losing her to another.
Best: Devdas
Fave romantic scene: Devdas: on the riverbank as she splashes him with water from her jar.

Who: Saif Ali Khan, Vidya Balan
Why: They are so sexy together!
Movies: Parineeta: rich boy, poor girl, childhood sweethearts, angst I did a long write-up on it and don't feel like repeating, Yagna: coming up. I guess the producers knew a good thing when they saw one
Best: redundant
Fave romantic scene: Wedding

Who: John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra
Why: Two hot people with sizzle. Why not?
Movies: Karam: he is an angsty hitman, she's his innocent wife. Yeah, one movie does not a team make. But if the producers are smart, they will reteam them.
Best: redundant
Fave romantic scene: Their phone conversation before she slits her wrists.
