Frell.

I am watching the 1970s French miniseries version of Countess of Monsoreau, one of my favorite books. I've seen this when I was a kid in Russia.

Hell, this thing is poorly dubbed but I can't help it.

I am BAWLING.

Ohhhhh...Louis de Clermont, Comte de Bussy! You will always be my huge huge crush. I think my thing for arrogant, super-competent fighters who are total boys in love and will die for it and are too passionate to survive is because of this book and mini.

But that thing at the end with the clenching of their hands and Diane SCREAMING his name and kissing his gloved fingers and OMG...

And the last shot of them lying on the floor, her staring at the camera...

FRELL.

This entry will make no sense to anyone :)

It's an adaptation of my favorite Dumas novel...

Oh no, I remember these miniseries. Fabulousness!!!. Though I can't say it was my favourite book of Dumas. I think I disliked a bad endings even back then. :D

Yay! Someone else remembers. I remember crying my eyes out. Most Dumas books have a pretty downer ending. The mini actually has a more hopeful ending than the book because there it's a little uncertain if he's dead or not. In the book? *wails*

I was amused to see the 16th century Diane have very 70s blue eye shadow on, but I don't care. My love for this is so tangled up with my childhood, and the actor who plays de Bussy is still so handsome (even with the beard) that I don't care...

I do wish I could find a subbed and not a dubbed version as I don't like the dub at all.

As well as Balzac's. :D

Is it dubbed to Russian? They like dubbing things

Yup, dubbed in Russian. I so don't care for dubs and prefer subs, especially when the dub is done by someone so lacking in voice abilities as this one.
