More weekend fun
Apr. 11th, 2005 09:55 amCherry blosom festival+nice weather=Out walking for 6 hours=horrendous sunburn. I am ready to be the main entree at Red Lobster. But it was still so worth it. Perfect weekend...
Husband and I saw Fever Pitch yesterday. His idea. It's a perfect date movie as it has baseball for the guys and cuteness for the girls. It was a lot of fun. Much more so than the 1997 version about Arsenal with Colin Firth (very boring movie). Not as good as About a Boy, my favorite Hornby movie, but not as loathsome as High Fidelity. We had tons of fun and it looks like Jimmy Fallon will become one of those rare SNL alums that will have a movie career. The fact that he looks normal helps. But yeah, the movie (about a mad Red Sox fan and his girlfriend) was hilarious, sweet and a great $16 spent. Not anything I'd rewatch or buy, but I can think of much worse ways to spend 2 hours. We also had Red Sox fans in the audience as people were applauding when they won the World Series :)
But the best part was the trailers. No, I am not dying to see Kicking and Screaming (speaking of SNL alums, Will Ferrell just needs to stop. We could use him as a WMD, he is so annoying). Neither do I have any desire to see Madagascar (saw the trailer 5 times already, and still my desire to see it is zilch. If every time a cartoon character made a stupid joke, a fairy died, this movie would be the equivalent of the bubonic plague for the fairy kingdom). And Crash looks pretentious, though am glad to see Ryan Phillippe is working as he is too cute to be a house-husband. But after all this nonsense, they showed the trailer for the Kingdom of Heaven. Cue Dangermousie hyperventilating, as it is the first time I really see the trailer. 20ft tall and with surround sound...boy does it look good! I. Can't. Wait. Favorite trailer moment: the knight's oath administered by Balian. Swoooooooooon. Favorite line: "You are a Princess and I am no Lord." Though if he is a knight, he is technically a Lord, I love the delivery. Swooooooon again. I think I will need to bring a large water bottle to the theater to keep rehydrated.
And in case that wasn't enough, they decided to knock me out with a one-two punch, as the next trailer was the Revenge of the Sith. Anakin. Light saber-duels. Anakin. Ship battles. Anakin. Padme crying as if her heart was breaking. Anakin. "You were the chosen one." Anakin. Palpatine fighting. Anakin. The lava planet that looks like hell. Anakin. Vader.
