Hanoi Bride
Nov. 17th, 2006 05:37 pmHallyu has well and truly struck.
I am going to be posting a nice long exhaustive list of all the Korean dramas I plan to watch/obtain/obsess over in the coming month(s),
But for now, my newest object of obsession:
Bride from Hanoi (also known as Hanoi Bride), this is a mini-drama, only 2 episodes long (so think of it as a movie, I guess), which I stumbled across because My Girl gave me a slightly unhealthy fascination with Lee Dong-Wook.

Anyhoo, even if it was acted out by gorillas, I couldn't have refused it after a synopsis like this: Eun Woo (Lee Dong Wook), a Korean doctor, meets and falls in love with Tib, a half-Korean, half-Vietnamese woman (played by Kim Ok Bin) whilst in Vietnam. However, Tib's sister is opposed to the match, as she was hurt by a Korean man in the past, and so persuades her Tib to break off the relationship. Eun Woo returns to Korea broken hearted, only for his older brother Sok Woo (Lee Won Jong) to head off to Vietnam in search of a bride himself. But when he returns with a young woman on his arm, Eun Woo is horrified to discover that it is Tib! Oooooooh. Shall we have crying confessions in the rain? One can only hope so.
Sort of 'Miss Saigon'ish only with hotter men and angst and hopefully HEA.
You can dl it at various places, or Yesasia is selling it with English subs for $27.99.
