I should be in bed but hey, My Girl is a drug.

I have long meta on it (finished 13 which is the best thing ever), but for now, I bring you a MV (which can double as a trailer) for the next thing on my list once I finish MG:

The King and the Clown, a Korean mega-hit movie that [livejournal.com profile] kitsune714 described as 'Farewell my Concubine' meets 'Brokeback Mountain.'

I first got interested in it because of the rave reviews, then got more interested because one of the main characters is played by my newest crush Lee Jun Ki, but now, after seeing the MV, it's moved all the way to the head of the queue. I mean, just look at it:

Someone needs to make sure that really is a guy...seriously..

*has clearly read too many mangas with girls masquerading as pretty boys*

And after you watch it, you should watch the duelist.

After seeing him in really low-cut shirts in My Girl, yup, he's a guy. Actually, in My Girl, despite the looks, he comes across as quite masculine, because of the way he carries himself. I found some subbed interview with him on youtube and he said he took lessons on how to move like a woman etc prior to K&C.

I still think that if the wikipedia entry is correct, he learned the martial arts stuff so as not to get grabbed by guys who mistook him for a girl :P

actor or character?

and...if he comes across as really masculine, he must be a very good actor.

I am a bit confused about the question...

Well, he is a playboy (with women) who is in love with the heroine so convincingly he is shaking my OTP tendencies. I don't think he'll ever make Marlboro Man level (or anywhere near it) but he came across as very much a guy, no girly mannerisms.

ah, sorry. I got tired around 10 and normally get off at 1(NOW!!!) but committed myself to staying late earlier because we're shorthanded and would be behind anyway,so I'm a little...off...

I meant, did the actor learn martial arts to protect himself, or the character? Cuz I didn't see anything at his d-wiki page.

And...from your writeups, I'm going to have issues and be rooting for him and the girl...I can tell...it's the one bit of trepidation I feel towards it.

I was joking about needing protection (beside, more likely to need it from ravening fangirls).

The info was on http://www.wikipedia.com if you type in his name. Once again, no idea how accurate it is as you know...wikipedia, but am amused at concept anyway.

Trust me, as awesome as Jong-Woo is, Gong-Chan is even more awesome. Seriously, OT3.

It's not only the hair, he really looks more like a girl and also moves like one in K&C. I think one of the reasons he looks more effemimate in the movie is the fact that he lost a lot of weight (probably to make him look taller and his face leaner as well as the physical training he and his co-actor took for the rope work).
In his newest film Fly, Daddy, Fly he plays a boxer and has a scar on his left cheek and he looks anything but girls in the movie even though he cannot do something drastic to his facial features (like curve of his lips etc.)

OMG. I have to pause for a second and act five and go SQUUUUEEEEE!

I love love LOVE this pic.

I really want to see this now.

I do wish he'd act in doramas more, because 2 hour movie v. 16 hour dorama? The latter would have a lot more LJK time :)

Oh I saw that. Well, half of it. Found it online, didn't manage to finish it.. I liked this Korean monster movie called The Host better but King & Clown was also a pretty nice movie from what I saw. I may finish it later.. I'm curious about the ending & well, Korean stuff overall kind of really rocks so yeah.

I've heard about The Host. Sounded a bit too bizarre for my tastes though pretty amusing :)

Honestly, if I hadn't seen him in My Girl first, I would be questioning his masculinity. But as Jeong Woo, this actor is entirely too James Bond and utter hawtness to be female. So the point is moot. I mean, he is totally my kdrama boyfriend...and although I too have seen too many manga where girls are disguised as pretty boys, I really hope this is not the case. Because that would be too cruel.

Besides, I've also seen him in those shirts dangermousie mentioned. All male, despite the 15 second shower scam.

OMG, that scam made me ROFL. All those women looking at him and going 'she must have gotten a sex change op' heeeeeeeeee.

I mean, he is totally my kdrama boyfriend...

I can see why :)

oh YES. *fans self*

He would be a perfect girl.. I swear. Oddly, hes still hawt. I dunno how I feel about this. And you are right, in My Girl he looked more masculine, but this MV he looks like a girl ALWAYS.
