dangermousie: (SUFBB: JH/SA kiss by timescout)

So, Ji Hyuk told the reporters he has a gf but they don't live together, but of course everyone ignores the second part of his statement. No surprise JH told - he's an honest guy whose last conversation with Soo Ah was all how she was not happy he was keeping her a secret, but eeeek. I have to say, only in Korea would anyone care that a rocker was living with his similarly-aged girlfriend, at age 18. When both are de-facto orphans. Clearly, I have dwelled in the decadent West for too long. Eye Candy's problem is that they are a typical American rock band (on the clean-cut side, even) but in Korea.

I've calmed down about Woo Kyung since my earlier post but honestly - I was fine with her chasing after Ji Hyuk when he wouldn't tell her he didn't love her (though indicated it clearly) and even when she showed up drunk after he did. But by now, I am getting exasperated - give it up, lady, he was never yours! Get drunk and console yourself with drummer boy!

When [livejournal.com profile] filmi_girl visited last time, we watched SUFBB together and decided that Seung Hoon is pretty much a Korean Edward from Twilight - he's pale, annoyingly stalkery, and acts like an 80-yr-old in a teenager's body. So we christened him Korean Edward, Kedward for short. And never has this nickname been more appropriate than here, when Kedward demands from Soo Ah, with tears in his eyes, to tell him she is...what? Not living in her boyfriend's empty apartment alone when he is gone and lives elsewhere because she needs the room and can't afford elsewhere? Oh, the horror, she has been sleeping in a room that once housed a man! The scarlet jezebel!

I love how their having each other gives them steadiness even in a crisis this bad, one no high-schooler should have to deal with. It's been made clear and clear - Soo Ah is remarkably steady in her quiet, ladylike way, and Ji Hyuk can deal with anything (before it was the loss of competition and Byung Hee's dream, now this), as long as he has her. They are genuinely good for each other.

The reckoning for Ji Hyuk. You know, I don't mind when the guys are mad at JH for potentially ruining their hard work or not telling them, but when they started going into that Soo Ah was Byung Hee's muse, I wanted to hit something. She is not a thing, morons! She doesn't belong to anyone! Leaving this main point aside, Byung Hee is dead and he and SA never dated (I loved when Ha Jin brought that up). When Do Il says he is disappointed in JH, btw, it's like the nail in the coffin for JH because DI is always so steady (Btw, I have reached the stage of irrational protectiveness with Ji Hyuk and whenever anyone hurts him or lashes out, however justified they may be, I feel such a degree of irrational blistering hatred, it can't be good for me).

Soo Ah moves into an empty apartment offered by Kedward. What that individual doesn't realize is that she is so independent - she didn't move earlier because she didn't want to be dependent on a man she didn't love back and whom she couldn't repay monetarily (the key to her taking Ji Hyuk's room is not just that she loves him and he loves her back, but that she can afford the rent and pays it to the landlady).

And, of course, Do Il is the only one of the guys who called Woo Kyung to see if she's OK (she can't talk but just sobs on the phone and he just listens). WK must be the blindest person in history not to see what's right in front of her.

The principal rants at them, now they are not the upcoming phenom. Big surprise that the honeymoon didn't last. But what really strikes me is how shining JH and SA are with each other even with all the craziness around them. They are each other's center.

I could gladly murder that sociopath Pyo Joo!

You know, they are constantly in a fishbowl, no opportunity for a life. I get the feeling that if Ji Hyuk was a solo rocker or whatever, he'd just tell the company to fuck itself, but he is loyal to his friends and so he can't dump when it would ruin things for them. That is why people are wondering how Eye Candy will go back on top by the end of 16 but I think it would better if they didn't. I am sure by that point, Hyun Soo would have earned enough by his solo work to pay for his sister's treatment (and as he was the only really ambitious one, perhaps he can still do solo work and play with his friends on the side. Though tbh, he always put them above fame, so I don't think he'd do that. I mean, despite his dire situation, the only way he ditched the band was when Ji Hyuk made him believe he didn't give a damn about the guys even while knowing how badly Hyun Soo needed the gig. And so much of Hyun Soo's loyalty and friendship was tied with Ji Hyuk, that when JH yanked that rug under him, HS decided that if JH won't be loyal, he won't be either. OK, mother of digressions). They could play for an indie label or just have gigs in-between doing other things and being normal.

Oh, darlings!

I just like the composition of this shot.

I loved that Hyun Soo is so loyal even with his sister's situation but you just know the guide song thing will be misused against him and the guys. Argh! (I really wish the guys would talk and HS will tell the guys about his sister's issue and they would never begrudge him solo or extra work, especially if he offers to come back once he got enough money to pay the hospital. But HS is really reserved about his feelings even by non-communicative teen boy standards). Also, I love the way he's sneaking looks at Yerim. Methinks angry puppy is melting! Heeee, are they falling while singing together? EEEE!

OK, I want to smack Woo Kyung! How dare she demand Ji Hyuk dump Soo Ah for the good of the band? Much you are concerned with the good of the band, lady! You were happy when you thought JH got a solo and lashing out at the guys for holding him back! Also, when she put the equation as "Soo Ah or Eye Candy and me?" WTF! Who are you? Ugh. I don't really want Do Il and her together any more, except the deluded boy seems to want her. I did love that Ji Hyuk told her he will keep everyone. Of course, they are all his family in different capacity. He has no one else.

I love how self-possessed yet open Yerim is. I adore her. Angry puppy stands no chance! Btw, what is with insane fangirls not wanting L to have an on-screen kiss? I honestly think (some sizeable portion of) k-pop fangirls are lunatics.

He gets a call his sister is in the hospital.

He can't get a taxi and gets frantic and she offers a ride in her van. I love how she is comforting but what I love even more is that she takes his hand and he only withdraws it slowly and after a beat. EEE! I mean, how can he not fall for her? She's so calm and steady and emotionally open but not pushy and angry puppy is so stressed and alone and needing cuddles.

:(

Oh, Kedward, please sparkle to death! For messing with Ji Hyuk and trying to insinuate there is something more to Soo Ah living in an empty apartment, for later lying to the boys that Hyun Soo is going solo. For being a nasty bastard who messes with lives he should leave alone. At this rate, you are not even going to get a pity fuck, dude!

My heart! Also, how did I love that JH learned about HS' sister.

Poor Hyun Soo, in so much turmoil and trouble and being loyal despite it, and still not being trusted. Ha Jin, just shut up!

Guys, you need to talk! But of course, you are teen boys.

And once again, they are OK as long as they have each other. Which makes you wonder what will happen when they don't? This week's eps seem to be designed to strip things away from Ji Hyuk, one by one, and most important for last. Oh God. When she offered to break up and he rejected, I got shivers.

They are being dropped and Ji Hyuk goes to beg Bosslady on Hyun Soo's behalf. And he says he will do anything and everything in exchange. Oh no, I am having a horrible feeling she is going to ask him to break up with Soo Ah to help her little brother.

Oh God, this scene broke me (and was made only a teeny bit better by the fact that Do Il knows the truth). I can so understand Ji Hyuk - he's a teen, with his back against the wall, and Hyun Soo's situation is so dire and time-sensitive and he will never leave unless Ji Hyuk pretty much tramples on his loyalty and shoves it in his face as worthless despite the sacrifice, but it kills me! Did you notice that Hyun Soo keeps hitting him but Ji Hyuk is not fighting back, he's not even defending himself! And yes, the theme of losing more and worse continues - this is Ji Hyuk's oldest friend he's just shoved away with both hands.

So yes, Hyun Soo takes the offer.

Oh my broken broken boys! This drama is not supposed to make me cry.

Bring on ep 14! After I loaded on prozac!
