Back from my trip. Will check my flist and respond to everyone's comments.

Also, am planning to write a meta on Pride (I am on ep 8) of gingantic, Tolstoyian proportions, but am actually flying out elsewhere first thing tomorrow morning so this will have to wait until Sunday.

I do want to say that 8 episodes in I realized a few things:

1. Pride is not just my favorite jdorama, it replaced A Love to Kill as my number 2 dorama ever, because it would take a Second Coming to displace Mars off the top spot.

2. Kimura Takuya=Japanese SRK (just like scottishlass said. I saw the pictures of him and didn't get the fuss. First two eps of Long Vacation also failed to grab me. But all of a sudden, Pride? I am a goner. I think I am now going to try to get my hands on every single drama the man was in. SEX OM LEGS (though I wonder the point of that saying: as opposed to what, legless sex?)

3. Aki/Halu are THE jdorama OTP. So compatible and complicated and quirky. LOVE.

4. All jdoramas have to have kissing like this.

5. I want Pride icons. Especially if anyone knows of that one shot in his apartment where he is sitting and she is standing and he has his head on her chest and his arm around her.

6. Yamato is much too good for Yuri the gold-digger. Talk about a woobie!

7. 8 eps in, I am dreading to watch more because I got so attached to the characters, I don't want them hurt even a little bit.

8. Yes. I cry like a baby at this one.

9. I hate Halu's mother with a burning passion.

10. I was sleep-deprived this whole trip because even though I had to be up early, I'd be watching this every night until my eyes wouldn't open.

11. Ummmm, I bought a Queen CD. Heh.

12. Better stop before I go meta crazy and get no sleep.

thats takuya kimura's charm..... which got me hooked, and Pride started it all (no wait, Levi's commercial in 1997 did it, and 2046). i guess i should say...it started my jdorama fandom. ;)

the icon is from 2046 - i love that scene and i love faye wong, she's a lucky girl to have takuya sucking her neck right there.

i think he just has a bit of charm going on and sex appeal. even my mom likes him! :) :) :)

Eeeee, Pride!!!!! I am so glad that I got you to scoot this drama up your watch list. Now that I've finished "Spring Waltz", I am going on a huge Kimura Takuya spree--all that's left to decide is whether I should watch Good Luck first or Long Vacation. I'm still debating A Sleeping Forest because of the potential creepiness, but...I'll see. Also, Queen! How can you not love a jdrama that has Queen?! And oh my god, episode six of "Pride". EEEEEEEEEE. The OTPness kills me. And Wataru! Cutest, most convenient jdrama child ever ("Mommy, do you want me to get out of your way while you have a meaningful conversation with Halu?"). I anxiously await your meta.

Looked at the icons and they are gorgeous.

The whole maybe/must be thing in the dorama kills me. OMG.

Halu is my jdorama bf. The funny thing, in RL, he is very much not the man I'd go for, but in the dorama...eeeeek! And I love how he and Aki are both rather odd and yet fit so perfectly and OK. No meta. I need to be up in 7 hours.

Is it ridiculous that I am dreading watching more now the bf came back. I just can't bear to see them hurt even though I know they end up together.

Aww, no pressure on the meta, as your sleep health is important. Halu and Aki are both so good for each other--I mean, I thought she was kind of a doormat in the first episode, but then I realized that dude, this girl is made of some very stern stuff. And she's totally what Halu needs. And the boyfriend--eee, I can't stand him. You'll see why soon enough, really. :)

You should give it a try - so yeah, it is not about swords and daggers, but the Blue Scorpions are a lovable bunch and Aki and Halu a very cute OTP. And considering they are using Queen music for the sound track doesn't hurt either.

Well...sharp, pointy things are more the most effective incentive(c'mon...dark, brooding(usually) and can kill you while you blink if you give him or someone he cares about a cross look...how can you resist?) than the only or even prime incentive...

Seriously though, the series got me hooked up on Kimura Takuya. It's really a nice feel good drama.
