For those who have no idea what I am talking about, this is a fic which concerns two of the characters in Rurouni Kenshin, a manga/anime set in 1870s Japan. YES. With Aoshi being a one-time leader of a ninja clan (before various complicated things that constitute a chunk of the anime intervene), and Misao is a ninja, who is also child of a previous leader, who has the world's biggest thing for Aoshi. And she was sort of brought up by him etc etc etc. But seriously. Just thinking about this makes me GLEE. I mean, imagining Aoshi as a pirate? AOSHI? Is there a downside? :P Also, if Misao is a captive, this will be the first time it's a pirate leader who is taken advantage of by a captive.

As I added in my ETA: If Misao is a caught by pirate-Aoshi, this will be the first time it's a pirate leader who is taken advantage of by the captive!

Yup. To be fair, RK did have that multi-parter with the pirates. Still, I remember a NOTICEABLE lack of ninjas on their ship.

And talk about character assassination. I can imagine Sano doing a brief pirate stint if push came to shove and he REALLY needed the money, but there is NO character less likely to be a pirate in possibly all of anime than Aoshi. Unless by pirate they mean "silent, brooding and repressed martial artist who is firstly all about expiating his guilt through sword fighting and later about equally sexy and brooding repentance. On land."

Kenshin anime is WONDERFUL. I went really crazy for it a few mnths back (just check the 'kenshin' tag if you don't believe me). And it seems just like your thing: plenty of hot men with swords and issues. Mmmmm. YUM.

I never finished it actually (the anime) as I stopped after the Kyoto arc. But must do so...I really wish they animated the Enishi arc though. Grrrr.

Oh, I've read the enire manga...started when it was on book 8 or so. I wish that Yahiko was a series, not a one shot. Sigh...

Basically. I can totally see the following:

MISAO: You, evil pirates! I DEMAND you take me to your leader!

PIRATES: *cower*

MISAO: I said NOW. *gets taken to Aoshi's cabin*

AOSHI: *stands by the window, looking all angsty and broody and silent*

MISAO: What are you, a slacker? I've been on your ship for 10 minutes already and you haven't come and ravished me at all! I demand to be ravished. Now. What kind of a pirate are you?

AOSHI: *brood*

MISAO: AoshiAoshiAoshiAoshiAoshi, ravishme ravishme ravishme ravishmeeeeeeee!

AOSHI: *brood*

MISAO: Pretty please?

AOSHI: No.

*Misao gets taken away, still protesting*

*It's now three in the morning and Aoshi wakes up to discover himswlf tied to the bed and Misao is sitting on his chest*

MISAO: *sigh* Fine, I'll take matters into my own *ahem* hands. We can't have you be a disgrace as a pirate, after all.

AOSHI: *glare* *(but it's a hot, angsty glare of course)*

MISAO: And if you have enough breath to tell me you are unworthy and all that stuff, then you should be occupying your mouth in other ways, buster!

Oh, how I wish. *crosses fingers* Seriously, the only way they will ever finally get together is when she will make the first move. And by that I mean a really severe, explicit (not necessarily in NC-17 sense :P) move. Because the guy's issues have issues, he's got so many.

Basically. Heh. They are so dysfunctional in a totally perfect for each other way. I mean, anyone less cheerful and sunny and hyper than Misao would just wilt under the weight of Aoshi's brooding issues, and anyone less stoic and controlled and 'I need to take care of someone' than Aoshi would just explode under too much Misao.

I still think she and Kaoru should form a club for short hyper women who love repentant former killers. And maybe she should get some tips from Kaoru on how to get your man to stop feeling guilty and finally let go of the issues and give you are smooch or several...

Btw, and completely unrelated. Have you ever watched Full Metal Panic? Because it's one of my Top 3 animes and might be just your thing.

I think Sano and Misao would kill each other :P It's sort of like Kaoru and Sano only worse because Kaoru is all womanly poise when compared to Misao

You know which fanfic pairing makes no sense to me? (I've seen it around on ff.net) Kaoru/Aoshi. It doesn't even have anything to do with the lack of any basis in canon. It's just I can't imagine it at all. I mean, I try, and it's not like I get 'bad/wrong' vibes, it's just my mind becomes completely blank. I just can't see any scenario, good, bad, indifferent or crazy whatsoever.

Urm..no, I don't dislike Megumi. Granted, she took a little while to grow on me, but I like her. I just didn't really see Megumi/Sano in the manga until after the Kyoto arc is all. Now, of course, it's firmly Sano/Megumi and Aoshi/Misao, but it wasn't at the time. I think they could have been cute, though.

And you forgot "daily beatings by Kaoru and Sano and Yahiko switching off days" in the things Knshin has survived.

Kaoru/Aoshi....eeeeeh...I see Kaoru/Sano first...and I do'nt see that one at ALL...it would almost be an incest-ship, to me. If you look at the dynamics of te Kenshin squad, you have the bratty but devoted little brother(Yahiko) the responsible but temperamental sister(Kaoru) and the hot, hotheaded older brother who says he's independent and is something of a troublemaker and is always hanging around, Sano(and who would literally kill anyone who hurt either Kaoru or Yahiko, if Kenshin wasn't always around to take care of it) And then you have Kenshin, who wandered up one day and stayed because it felt safe and comfortable, and Megumi, who acts like she's only hanging around for a (largely nonexistant) crush on Kenshin, but i's really for the same reason(same reason everyone hangs around....for a temperamental vixen who can't cook, she's quite the den mother) Ok, irrelevant tangent but...Kaoru?Aoshi...no thank you.
