Umrao Jaan: how gorgeous can you get?

Umrao Jaan, a Bollywood movie with Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachcan, is probably my most anticipated of the year. It just looks so bloody gorgeous. Aishwarya has seldom looked more beautiful and Abhishek? There is a reason he and Saif are always in the running for my second fave Bolly actor (SRK is first).

UJ is a period piece with the following plot: in the year 1840, a young girl named Ameeran is kidnapped from her family by their neighbour and sold to Madam Khanum Jaan who owns a brothel where she trains courtesans. Ameeran, renamed Umrao Jaan, learns to read, write, dance, sing, and charm wealthy men. She is no common prostitute, but a cultured woman trained to captivate men of wealth and taste.

A grown-up Umrao Jaan catches the eye of Nawab Sultan and to say more would really be to spoil it all...

Omg. Stunning pictures. Aish is definitely one of the most beautiful people alive.

I wonder how am I going to see this movie when it comes out, since it's definitely not going to be shown in the local theatres. A major bummer. I want to see this one!

Only a question: I've been looking at the different trailers, and do you think that they're just from an unfinished edit of the film, or is this going to be the worst-dubbed Bolly musical of the 21st century? I mean, the actors weren't even close to matching the songs.

Oh, this looks so pretty! I think the last movie I saw that had anything to do with Bollywood was Bollywood Hollywood, and that was at least two years ago, so I'm tempted to give Umrao Jaan a go.

Also, in drama-news, I'm at this moment kicking myself for downloading the raw of Kame's new show, "Tatta Hitotsu no Koi", because it looks so good and potentially angsty AND I HAVE NO SUBS. Now I remember why I like waiting for the show to finish airing before I download! ARGH!
