I just finished watching ep 2 (barely before subs for ep 3 are due to be out). I love MR but I find it a draining experience and one I cannot ff through, so I was hoarding the ep until I had time without interruptions.
Ep 2 was likewise very strong, as we see Miri start weaving her web of lies yet remain oddly sympathetic throughout. We also finally see what makes Myung Hoon tick - he's a fascinating character even if KSW himself does zip for me (or maybe in the negative digits) as far as sex appeal is concerned. Yutaka is still a bit of a mystery but I am sure we'll get there eventually as the writing is pretty darn good.
My sole beef with the show is secondary girl, who's straight out of a really grating romcom. She's so relentlessly cheerful that I am wondering if she's on uppers and she can barely walk without tripping over her feet (her levels of everyday incompetence are amazing. I am astounded we are supposed to view her as cute). I would find her annoying in any event, but in a dark gritty drama like MR, she sticks out like the sorest of sore thumbs. Also, why on earth would a graduate of Todai be stuck being a maid? Surely, even someone as clumsy as she is would get a better job with a pedigree like that (how someone so apparently single-celled got into Todai is a whole other issues). I mean, for Asia, Todai is pretty much equivalent to Harvard.
Also, watching ep 2, I had this profound and existential question occur to me, so a weighty poll below.
