Oh. My. God.

My favorite episode of the season.

First, allow me to fangirl. OMG OMG OMG OMG! Kara. Lee. KaraLee Kara Lee argh. I jumped back on that ship with both feet and arms. Damn you, Ron Moore! But in a very happy, satisfied way.

I love the scene of them drinking and talking about not being to remember all those who died. And knowing they can't live in Roslin's paradise. And then it transforms into making out and it's just as hot and fucked up as I thought it would be. And it's clear he is more emotionally involved than she is and he, I think, is absolutely right when he says she can deal with the dead guys, it's the living ones she can't handle. Because dead people are "safe" impossible to disappoint, can't hurt you. And she slaps him and kisses him right after. She is a person who can't control herself very well and she is so conflicted and fucked up and I think yet, this is doing a number on Lee too. Because clearly, he likes her more as a friend. And I do think he is a very good friend to her (see morning after). God, I love their dynamic.

I also loved the scene between Kara and Sharon. Boomer comes across as more and more human with every episode and her "how many pilots have we lost" (italics mine), quickly corrected, and her recognizing of old memories is just...

I like that Helo is also Kara's support system, in a different way from Lee. She is not as close to him but it's not as complicated between them either. And I love that Kara is probably the only person Lee shows his vulnerability to. Can you imagine him telling about how what bothers him most is not remembering the faces to anyone else).

I also loved the Kat-Kara confrontation. With so many alphas in such stress, I am surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Loved the final scene with Kara saluting all those dead and the look on Lee's face when she starts and he realizes that she does remember all the names. And I love the last scene with Kara and Helo. I just love the vibe between them.

As to the Twu Wuv between Kara and Anders? A bit sudden but I am willing to buy it for reasons in my earlier BSG posts. And of course he is the straw hat broke the camel back. It's not just that yet another guy she loved bought it. It's the whole her father figure odered her to kill Cain, someone she admired, herbest friend is suicidal, her pilots keep dying, and oh yeah, end of the world.

Above all, I loved how human this episode made Kara. She is not super-Starbuck. She is a really interesting, sometimes unsympathetic, wholly human person.

I am just ded from the Lee/Kara this episode.

Though, I'd be more inclined to say that she is not in the correct state of mind currently to think that she's READY for her and Lee, more than I would say that she's just generally less emotionally involved. And of course this is because of the exact thing that you said and that Lee pointed out. Her thing with obsessing over the dead, currently only being capable of committing to the dead. I just. Oh, I love them so much.

I am incoherent. GAH.

True. Lee is screwed up but he is more functional and more held together. She is publically and spectacularly falling all over the place.

I love the pilots....

This is one of those situations that it's best that they never get together. They're great friends. They'd make terrible lovers.

Besides, it would screw up the story.
But I'm really waiting for ALL the alphas to start getting into it. Rooooooar!!!!

I don't think they could, storywise, get together in a functional way any time soon. They are too messed up, as well.

Lovely post!

Yeah, the Lee/Kara scene was fantastically done. I found the ep tough to watch just because it was hard to watch 'buck decline. But then, well, she couldn't be top forever could she? This is her chance to move on.

Thanks!

I do think she straightened her act by the end. In a way, if she ever lives long enough to be Admiral, I think we are slowly seeing her evolution into that kind of a person.

I think that it was a case of starstruck awe (or is it starbuck awe?) in this case. When she came back, she had gone against Commander Adama, been promoted from their ranks (or near about), and become emotionally messed up. Kara did mention that Kat had been on her ass since Caprica.

True. I think Kara and her not really good at being CAG style was going to clash with someone sooner or later.

My favorite episode of the season.

Word.

Kara-Lee, Kara-Sharon, Kara-Helo, Kara-Kat, pilot talk, pilot drinking, pilot training, pilot flying.

What more could we ask for?

Five stars for this one from me. (and a sixth for the fact that is was free of Six, hehe!)

Yeah, I actually find that Six and Baltar get on my nerves. So glad they weren't in it. :P

The Kara/Anders Twu Wuv is getting old. Woe is me, I can't get my head around some guys I only knew for about a week!

Heh. I think with Anders it's not as much any real feeling she had for him (though it's clear she really really liked him) but that it's something for her to cling to, a happy untainted memory in her mess of a life. Her civilian life wasn't good, she can't hold on to happy memories of Zack because she feels she killed him, and hey, Apocalypse happened. Her interlude with Anders is one of the few uncomplicated things in her life.

And in a way, she never came across as mentally military the way Lee does. She is sort of a civilian jock who is really really good at military stuff so I think she sees a similarity to herself in Anders.

Loved the Kara/Sharon interaction, Grace keeps getting better and better, plus she is so lovely its amazing. You can tell that Sharon has strong feelings for Kara, I think at one point Sharon really wanted to hug Kara.

Yes, you can tell the echoes of bonding filtered through the other Boomer's memories.
