A Festival in Mousie's heart...

This is the background picture on MBC's Festival page, and when I saw it, I made loud guppy-type noises.
AHH, SO CUTE!!!!
I have no idea why I am so rabidly excited about Festival, and have been since it was announced. Sure, I like Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa well enough, but I am easy to please and like most actors, and I am not a rabid fan of either of them. I preferred his character in YAB to get the girl (he treated her much better, the old kdrama complaint) but it's not as if he and PSH are reprising their YAB roles (thankfully, her role drove me nuts). And I am generally not the hugest fan of kdrama romcoms. The last one I genuinely enjoyed from beginning to end was Playful Kiss, and that was last summer/early fall. And the last one I truly loved - might be all the way back with City Hall.
So, no idea. But I am rabidly pre-obsessed about it. Maybe because I've been watching a ton of grand cdrama epics and a little romcom seems like a fun change. Maybe because, for whatever reason, it's not feeling like a kdrama romcom to me, but a twdrama one, with a little jdrama vibe thrown in, and that is a combo I do go rabid for. Plus, this character description sounds delicious:
Lee Shin (21) is a university student majoring in modern music.
He is the vocalist of band "The Stupid" and also plays the guitar. He is known for his good looks and for his strong passion for music. However, he is a cold person and is uninterested in things non-music related. He has no dreams nor plans for the future. In the drama, he initially likes a dance professor at his university. But it is all going to change as he meets Lee Kyu-Won (starring Park Shin Hye).
Lee Kyu Won (21) is a bright and outgoing student who was born into a prestigious family, and is majoring in traditional Korean instruments, especially the gayageum. She is a very outgoing. Kyu Won's grandfather, Lee Dong-gun, is one of the top 3 traditional music singers of his age. And his biggest wish is to have his grand-daughter trained to become a traditional music child-prodigy in 10 years' time. Trying to live up to her grandfather's expectations, Kyu-Won immenses herself in traditional music training and becomes a university student who knows nothing about anything besides traditional music. As Kyu Won's friends are fans of "The Stupid", she was forced to go to the band's concert with them and there she saw Lee Shin, performing life. She is immediately captivated by him.
I don't know - it just sounds like so many fun jdrama/twdramas to me. With the added bonus of being (a) a college drama (b) music drama. I love both.
It doesn't hurt that Yong Hwa is no hard on the eyes (he isn't the world's greatest thespian, but I have pretty relaxed standards on the score as long as I like characters/story):

I close with a fan-made trailer. I always like how creative those are, since they are inevitably done before a mm of footage is shot, from other sources.
