Are

Not bad but rather disjointed. But then that's what I thought about 2.1 too. I do think most of things I loved about VM S1 are gone forever, but it's still an enjoyable show with some awesome moments.

And speaking of awesome moments, hey, I get the Logan/Dick slashers now. Because that hug at the end? And Logan getting Dick to stay at his place because he knows what it's like to be at rock bottom and alone is...awesome.

Piz (what kind of a name is it, come on!) is OK and cute in manner of puppy but rather on the boring side. His jealous reaction to Logan is cool though, as is Logan's borrowing V's tazer to save Dick (love how they operate as a team).

Clearly, future trouble in paradise as Logan still has plenty of issues (blames himself for Cassidy for one thing). But for now, sex scene! A hot and heavy one with V saying Logan should go pro. Heeeeee.

What I loved even more though is the scene where he gives her his hotel key and kisses her hand. Awwwww. And she quips that how about all the other women who'd have to scamper now, and he seriously says there is no one else for him, she knows that. And she has no quip.

Dick has layers. OMG!!!!! Love it. He's a mess now.

Loved his scene with Mac. Love Mac, but what else is new. Mac's new roommate (rape victim) is boring, and the same is true for most new characters (oddly, while I don't care for Piz one way or another, he's the only one who doesn't bore the socks off me).

Keith's story made no sense. Why did Liam's elder brother kill Kendall again? Huh?

Also,I liked old credits better, but these do have LV.

It looks like a fun pass-the-time show now and I will watch, but far from the brilliance of S1.

also, Battlestar Galactica reference? Rocks.

don't try to make my like Dick...he was mean to Veronica and Mac and as such is onthe blacklist for eternity barring grovelling and/or extreme protectiveness towards one. (Ok, fine, I like him sometimes...but...you know...mean to Veronica and Mac...)

Dick has...layers...*head spins*

I think you wrote about other things, but Dick having layers requires digestion...

I know. I am shocked myself. He is still a jerk, but jerk with layers...

*chants "Mean to Mac and Veronica"*

what's weird is...even though he holds a lot of the responsibility for the rape night...I oddly don't really hold it against him. I think it's because he was never portrayed any other way.

He is still mean to Mac here. In a sort of 'I am hurting a lot' kinda way. Love it.

Hmm...ok, more "mean to Mac" will let me remain strong.

Being mean to Mac is worse than being mean to Veronica...with Mac, you only really get punished if Veronica finds out. With Veronica, either Veronica, Keith, Logan, Wallace or Weevil will rip out your spleen. In vengeance, mean is ok.

Heh.

I am still recovering that this is the very first VM ep where LV started and ended it as a couple.

Aw, frak! *Loved it*

And Wallace had nothing to do :(

And hand kissing? Was *so* much better than the sex scene (what was up with the no touching?).

And brushing your teeth w/o any toothpaste? What was up with that?

In conclusion, FISH!!! *g*

No toothpaste? Didn't notice that. Odd.

Hmm... I agree largely, but I'm wondering why that is. Is it just that nothing will even have the same raw emotional pull that Lilly's murder did for Veronica? I'm trying to figure out exactly what it was about season 1 that was so good. Is it just not as tightly written? I'm honestly confused here. I guess it feels almost like a fundamentally different show now. Still one worth watching, though!

I am a lot more excited for the return of BSG, even though they completely reinvented it (sort of) it's still got the same central conflict so it feels more unified.

Oh, I really think because it was:

a. so tightly written.
b. so dark and noir. S2 was a lot 'sunnier' and this looks to continue the trend: it's not dark and messed up any more.

It's a fun show and all but now it's a good WB show as opposed to what it was first season: freaking incredible!

I think you hit the nail on the head.

The rawness, the intensity, is really what sold S1. In S1 Veronica was very, very focused on finding Lily's killer and her rapist. Everything else, everything else took a backseat to that for her. And the audience was very enthralled in it. Because Lilly's death and Veronica's rape, shook her to the core and redefined her and the entire of S1 is seeing Veronica grow and learn and nothing is ever really going to match that. We're not going to get more personal than being raped or your BFF getting murdered. There's just no way.

The thing with the mysteries in S1 is that it wasn't just that Veronica wouldn't give up, it was that she couldn't. So the fact that V's not as committed to the mysteries as she was in S1 affects the way that we view the show. Because if she isn't heavily invested, neither are we.

And really, V could make the mysteries her personal mission or something and we still wouldn't be as effected because it wouldn't carry as much weight a her rape or Lilly's murder did.

Plus it was the 1st season. Everything is always shinier the 1st season.

Oh, agreed. They couldn't duplicate the emotional mess and lows and pull of S1. They've sort of written themselves into a corner because unless they offed Keith, nothing was going to have the same importance but if they did this, it would be too unbelievable and Perils of Paulinish. So they are stuck.
