dangermousieThe poor dears just seem to be so dumb. Yup, still on my BK rewatch and up to ep 17 and Murder Mama's idiocy astounds me. I mean, does it never occur to her (or Domyouji's Mom or Joo Won's Mom or any of the other evil rich parents) to at least ascertain whether the undesirable gal in question digs your boy before doing something? BK thing always reminds me of Hanadan where Domyouji Mama's opposition actually gives Domyouji another chance because Makino wants to outstubborn her, where she had zip interest in the guy before.
I mean, all her tactics in ep 17 of inviting her to her house at some ungodly hour on the weekend and then keeping her standing in the hall for hours until she finishes her 'meeting' with Ma Jun and the rich eligible girl she wants for him, achieve is to keep the undesirable gal from going on a date to meet her actual boyfriend (and thus scotching chances of Ma Jun/Yu Kyung, obviously), piss off Yu Kyung even worse and actually probably consider keeping Ma Jun around to annoy his mother, and oh yeah, make YK look like a martyr and Momster like an evil bitch in Ma Jun's eyes. It's not like Ma Jun has always been biddable in Momster's hands or anything and thus will be cowed by Momster's displeasure - he always does what he wants as far as she's concerned as a form of rebellion. So all Murder Mama gets out of her fit is (a) helping to break up Takgu/Yu Kyung and (b) pushing Ma Jun/Yu Kyung along - I mean, the guy ditches the party and walks out with YK in front of everyone, prospective bride included. That's like the opposite of good results. And yet evil drama parents keep doing this crap all the time. Will they never learn?
This is the scene which confirmed to me that irrespective of whether Ma Jun and Yu Kyung end up together, Yu Kyung is absolutely the wrong woman for Takgu. Takgu is a darling, amazing, sweet guy and deserves someone who puts him first - ahead of playing games with a rich bitch out of pride (because honestly, what she should have done was to walk out on this and meet the man she supposedly loves, yet she picked a show of perverse pride before Mom of a guy she doesn't (consciously) like instead of meeting a man she supposedly adores and whom she hasn't seen for two years. WTF!) I was so angry with Yu Kyung there. Takgu has been fucked with enough and needs and deserves a sunny, caring, maternal, uncomplicated darling - in long term, Yu Kyung's darkness would have pulled them apart - she would hurt him and hate herself for not being his ideal and resent this and hurt him more. No good at all.
Not really related, but while this show doesn't have the stunning cinematography of e.g. Secret Garden, some of its shots are really pretty.
While we are at it, let's have another shippy MV. For a guy both of whose parents are murderers and attempted murderers, Ma Jun didn't turn out too bad.
