Today is our last glorious, full day in Japan. I don't want to go back home! Please!

I can proudly report buying two really cool Japanese skirts for self (and two pairs of shoes and a handbag). I feel more fashionable already! I was looking for a shirt or so, and there were a couple of cool sweaters, but poor Mr. Mousie was being very sweet and patient and I did not want to keep him bored for longer. Presents have also been bought for everyone who was getting them ([livejournal.com profile] katranna and [livejournal.com profile] aliterati, you better like yours!)

We went to Akihibara today and saw every electronic gadget one could imagine. Also saw girls in anime and maid outfits. Funnily enough, Akihibara had almost no fashionable (dyed or layered) hair at all, thus proving geeks are unfashionable the world over :P

Also went to the area where the sumo arena is. All the tickets were sold out but we saw a crowd lined up outside, and as a bunch of sumo wrestlers were walking out, the crowd surged towards them for autographs and pictures. Which was cool, and probably almost as fun for such an ignoramus as myself as watching a match.

We also went to the top of Tokyo Municipal Building and Oh. My. God. Fritz Lang, eat your heart out! Metropolis has nothing on this. You see city as far as the eye can see, in any direction.

Ended up taking a stroll through Harajuku, which was so fashionable it hurt. There were a bunch of clothing stores which were unbelievable (think Victorian by the way of anime and a fetish enthusiast) but the owners did not want pictures taken, so alas...

You saw people all over walking dressed that way too (both men and women). When I went to the store bathroom, it was an entertainment unto itself, as the other people in line were either:
a. Gothic Lolita types
b. Victorian as imagined by Hugh Hefner
c. At home as anime cosplayers
d. Punk in bondage

I really wish I had a sneaky camera, because people there were WAY worth photoing. In fact, I rather must apoligize about my earlier cracks about the Hana Yori Dango j-drama fashion. It is very mild comparative to Harajuku (and Shibuya, though there it is less in your face). Compared to the stuff in the stores and on people, the HYD guys were a model of conservatism.

I continue to be a bit confused in regard to some guys: now and then I have to do a double take to reconfirm whether it is a man or a woman (invariably, it is a man). I am turning into Miaka and staring at people's chests. Tonight we passed a very sweet looking couple (he was sitting on the railing, holding her face up to him by her chin and she was smiling at him all radiant) and I seriously had to stare and stare and yup, he was indeed a he. Androgeny seems to rule here :P

Now we are in Shibuya enjoying the sights and then on to a late night onsen. I bought a copy of the 'Silence' soundtrack (they have TONS of F4 vids and CDs) and I got [livejournal.com profile] winterspel a Jay Chou CD+VCD (not sure what as it is all in Chinese).

And tomorrow a flight back. Booooo!

That explains many things in the jdoramas. EEEEE! I can't wait for the pictures!

Yup, after being in Japan, jdoramas certainly are a lot less WTF and 'I see. People really dress/look/ that way there'

I have been so enjoying your Japan travelogue posts, and I love the detail you pack into yours. :) I'm so glad you've been able to keep us updated...

And words cannot express my glee at the Jay Chou. I believe I let out a happy shriek. *hugs you tight* You're wonderful for looking for it for me!

Have a wonderful rest of your trip and a safe flight home!

Thanks! I like to write things down because otherwise I'd forget.

Let me know how and when you want to pick up your goodies. During workweek this week is iffy for me (I start a new thing this week) and Sunday is out because I am moving, but if you want to do it Saturday or next week, let me know...

I dreamt I was in Japan last night I blame reading your lj and my roommate (who lived in Japan for five years of her life and tells fun stories about it when she's not playing World of Warcraft).

I blame my lack-of-period between "night" and "I" on my sleepiness.

I dreamed last night that my parents had been out of town for a week and I hadn't been out to feed their cats once the entire time.

There's still a lingering feeling of guilt.

I was thinking about you. You'd love it there: stylish people and very fascinating fashions. Now I am back and everyone seems drab.

I love the androgyny;;; Though re: always being a man, that seems to be true when you think it's a woman. Though I've occasionally seen someone I thought was a guy at first, then had to do a doubletake and stare closer at their chest to confirm that it was indeed a girl. (Though some may have passed by virtue of being extremely flat-chested.)

And aaahh, I want to go to Harajuku. I've yet to be able to. I hear Sundays are especially great for that; but I'm waiting a little bit for when it gets cooler, so I can wear more vinyl. (Though the weather's been pretty nice.)

Also, I was at Asakusa yesterday! I went to see the final sumo matches as part of a school field trip.

How was the sumo? Did the ground really shake? ;P

That's true about androgyny. I've seen some mannish looking women. But whenever I think 'is that a girl?' it turns out to be a guy. I took a pic of a hot guy like that so I have proof.

And Harajuku is definitely great!

I am so jealous you get to be in Japan for more than a measly week :)
