Imagine this scenario - you are a poor, unemployed young woman who has to support a score of small nephews and an evil sister-in-law. A well-dressed, attractive young man gives you some money, while trying to spare your pride. How nice, right? If you guys meet again, that may be good, right? Further acquiantance leads to love and all that?

WRONG!!!!!!

Heroine (in process of stealing to support her family) somehow ends up in the middle of a political assassination attempt and as the secret police closes in on her, she is found with a gun so she is taken for a ringleader and dragged off.

And then there strides in the young man who was so helpful and nice. Is he a helpful passerby or maybe a rebel leader? WRONG!!! Meet the captain of secret police, rebel-buster extraordinaire, and the gentleman who is about to order torture of everyone in the cell with you. And, once you confess to what he wants you to confess, he is going to have you tortured too, as bait for rebel leaders.

Oh, Infernal Lover, how you spoil me! Because Feng, the police captain, is actually a double agent, who is part of a rebel group and inflitrated the secret police. But within the ep we have seen him kill numerous rebels, torture innocent bystanders (who he knows are innocent), and just now order the mistreatment of a young woman he knows had nothing to do with anything as a form of bait. Did I mention the girl insisted he was a good person? Hah.

I really like that he is totally torn about it all and self-loathing and really would love to find any way to wiggle out of hurting her because she is an innocent. But I love even more that he does it anyway.

Huo Er is thick as two planks but she is kind and strong and has a dog's life (robbing dead people, so horrible!) and I desperately want her to be OK.

Did I mention they are the OTP????

This is such a cheery drama, Good Lord. My favorite bit of happy times was when Feng's subordinate went in and was all "Captain, you know the girl has nothing to do with the assassination attempt, and she is hot, so can we have fun with her?" OMGOMGOMG WTF. Thankfully Feng told him he needs the girl as bait and if subordinate does anything of the sort, Feng will personally make sure subordinate is a cripple for life. (But beating her is OK? They are so fucked up!)

ETA: Boooooo! Viikii won't load the last part of ep 2 for me! But that is where sinfully pretty hero has his nervous breakdown! Do want! How dare they deprive me of this:

Only two eps of this are subbed so far so I may just leave IL alone for a couple of months until the subbing is done. Waiting between eps would make a wreck out of me.
