Can I have a Ouyang Ke show?

dangermousieIf anyone had told me ten eps ago that my favorite character as of mid-20s eps would be Ouyang Ke, I would have been, frankly, boggled. I have found him pretty amusing from the moment he appeared, with his all-white clothes, his iron fan weapon (how badass is that, btw, fighting with a fan?), his ever-present smirk, and his travelling harem. But I was not particularly interested in him at that point. But how things change - I find his scheming and brains fascinating (currently he is the second-smartest character, behind Huang Rong. Sure, Yang Kang is smart, but since he's sacrificed his sanity to his plots, I can't consider him a winner), his scenes simply sparkle with chemistry, and we finally start to see the (really screwed up) human behind the mask. We saw the start of it in his conversation with Nianci and more during his fight with Guo Jing, but it really came to the fore during his trip home.
Oh yes, it's official - Ouyang family wins the prize for the most dysfunctional family dynamics. It was a tough competition up til now but they leave everyone in the dust.
Indeed. I can see the audience of Jerry Springer gearing up already. Let me get this straight, OYK's mother, on the day of her wedding (!!!!!) saw her husband's brother Ouyang Feng, and decided he was the hottest thing ever. Feng had no interest in her (or anything other than martial arts and becoming the bestest) so she trained in this weird martial art to lure him which disfigured her but got his interest. Then she told him that if he sleeps with her, she will reveal the secret, so he did (clearly neither spared any thought to their husband/brother). After that night (which resulted in OYK) and getting the secret he never looked at her again, but she doesn't care - she got what she wanted (she is a scary woman, her whole attitude is getting what you want, however is insane, is worth anything). So OYK's 'father' is actually his 'uncle' and vice-versa, something OYK suspected all his life but only got confirmed on this visit. That is really really really screwed up. OYK's mother doesn't care about anything or anyone, her son included, which OYK knows:
And the father won't be any better. Man, those are some scary scary parents.
I gotta say that despite being evil, training via being covered in snakes and bugs, and probably gladly slitting his son's throat if it will enable him to be 0.001% better at fighting, Ouyang Feng is genuinely hot. Hot enough to commit incestuous adultery with and lose your looks for? You decide:
Part of my sudden obsession with OYK arises out of my current irritation at Yang Kang. Nobody messes with darling Guo Jing! Also, he is beginning to get the impression that Dark Side is a desirable residential address but I don't think he is fully cognizant of what he is doing - seriously, his persinality is splintering into pieces. But he still looks hot, even as he frightens the beejesus out of me.
Well, whatever is going on with him, one thing is always certain - his love for Nianci. How did I love their break-up where she walks out on him because she decides he is a traitor and he can't even argue convincingly because he is so muddled in his own head as to who he is and what he is doing? I love how strong she is. And the scene where she cuts off a lock of her hair, as a sign of mourning, because he is now dead to her. (You know, YK/MN is such a high drama relationship - it's fun to watch but it would be an exhausting thing to be in).
