Fakecest is Best!

In eps 12 and 13,
I can see the chemistry between Ouyang Ke and Huang Rong. (But then either one is capable of chemistry with a rock). I am a hardcore GJ/HR shipper but I can certainly enjoy the delicious possibility of OK/HR - they are both smart, teasing, arrogant, and unscrupulous. HR discovered her heart in loving Guo Jing, who knows, OK can discover a heart too. The screen seriously crackles when they are together. (Btw, the actor for OK, Lee Jia, what else has he been in - I must see more).

Oh, darling darling Guo Jing, to the rescue, of course.

Hey, Wanyan Honglie, for a smart man, you made a moronic move! There may be some ways to get back your adopted son, but bringing an army and attacking him and his friends and threatening his parents is really not among them.

Oh, and to get back your wife, it may help not to threaten her son and then get her and her husband accidentally killed. I gotta say that was very epically, tragically romantic, about Papa and Mama Yang.

Wailing happens but I was amused that with his dying breath Papa Yang considerately provided for more shippy angst by asking Guo Jing to marry Nianci. Kind of him to be considerate of the audience.

Yes, Honglie pretty much ensured that not only is his beloved Xiruo is dead (thus there is no chance she will return to him) but that the boy he views as his son will only think of him with hatred - things like that happens when you kill the boy's mother. I have to say, I wonder what would happen if YK did get a clear shot at Honglie - he must be so screwed up - the man killed his mother and father but he did bring him up with love for 18 years. YK needs so much therapy.

Yang Kang gets mortally wounded trying to get to Honglie and this awesome shippy fakecesty hurt/comfort scene ensues. I was making incoherent noises at the screen, a cross between a baby seal given his first fish and a hyperventilating elephant.

GJ and HR come upon Yang Kang as he is almost dying and he is fixated on not having avenged his parents. Guo Jing to the rescue (how I love him!)

GJ manages to wound Honglie through sheer badassery and some bad CGI and is given to believe the man is dead but we as the audience know better.

Yes! The one thing that can save Yang Kang is Guo Jing's blood! That is the slashiest thing I've seen in months and when you remember that in ROCH this is how the hero cured his OTP, the slashiness gets even higher :)

With the help of blood, chanting, other medicine and Nianci's prayers, Yang Kang recovers. Which is good, I don't want my ogling privileges taken away.

He's just in time for the funeral of his parents. Cheery. I loved the oddly gladiatorial ceremonial martial arts performance GJ and YK did in front of his parents' funeral fire. I got shivers.

Poor Yang Kang, trying his best to refer to and treat Nianci as a sister. Good luck, I still remember your deathbed confession bare days ago.

Gotta love that he is so proud that she can kick an immense amount of butt (especially when consider that the guy she defeated he, YK, couldn't beat). Awwww, I love men who love competent women.

Obnoxious teachers bring up the whole Guo Jing/Nianci marriage thing. All the parties involved look like they'd rather drink poison.

It is Huang Rong, as always, who points out the insanity of it all.

Meanwhile you can tell Yang Kang and Mu Nianci are crossing fingers, toes, and every other appendage available - after all, they can't speak up and say they are stepsiblings in love.

And then the quiet, polite, sweet-natured, obedient Guo Jing speaks up and basiscally says he won't marry Nianci because he's in love with Huang Rong and nothing they can say can move him.

OTP!

Ugh, every time I see Guo Jing's six teachers, my blood pressure spikes up. Why are they pushing him to marry My Nianci despite him telling them plainly he loves Huang Rong and when he stands his ground they act as if he is the most undutiful evil guy? How dare he pick someone other than their choice? WTF is wrong with you, morons? And then when he and HR basically elope, they sit around the table and discuss the witch (i.e. HR. Did I mention they also insult her to his face???) and how could she have turned GJ around - he used to be such a good boy, even when they beat him "he was afraid to make a sound" WTFWTFWTF this is what you consider good? Ugh, please tell me a bad guy kills them. I love Hung Rong basically telling them all to fuck off but even more I like the quiet, sweet-natured, dutiful Guo Jing being utterly immovable on the fact that he will marry Huang Rong.
