Oscar thoughts
Mar. 8th, 2010 03:50 pmThis was my first relaxing Oscar watch in 2 years (last year was still too sick from the baby to watch comfily) and...
I was so bored! At one point I actually gave up and actively started doing housework, that is how bored I was.
Does it have to go on so long? And with so much self-praise (the acting awards - my God - when they got people out there to praise the nominees, I rolled my eyes so hard they almost popped out of sockets).
I think I was especially bored this year because
(a) I have seen only 2 of the 10 nominated Best Pics (Avatar and District 9). I liked both but I can't say I was in love with either. I have seen 5 other movies total out of all nominated categories - so yeah, most movies were an unknown land. We used to be avid movie-goers but not with the baby.
(b) Due to the baby and the fact that I've been watching so much Asian stuff, I didn't keep up at all with movies, celebrities etc - I didn't recognize half the people. Watching pretty people in pretty clothes is fun but not for 4 hours.
