What an awesome drama year 2010 is turning out to be! We are barely 3 months into the year and there already too many great dramas to watch. But you know what's even better? A multitude of dramas yet to come.

Here is my anticipation meter, from most to least.

Subcategories:

OBSESSED - Dangermousie had unhealthy fantasies about these dramas from the moment she's heard of them. If she had the net savvy, she'd install a countdown on her lj.
EXCITED - While not quite as insane as about the OBSESSED dramas, she is still giddy at the thought of these being out in the world.
CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC - Hopefully they'll be good but due to various factors, are to be approached with expecations a little in check.
MEH - Self-explanatory
DISLIKED - These drama are DISLIKED in advance. Dangermousie reserves the right to change her tune, however.

OBSESSED

Athena - This drama won't air until November at the earliest, and hasn't even cast its leading lady and I am already fantasizing about watching the episodes. Why? (1) They cast freaking Jung Woo Sung as the spy and Cha Seung Won as the evil leader. OMGOMGOMG. (2) This is a sorta-sequel to IRIS, arguably my favorite drama of all time (it's a compeletely independent story with different characters but the theme is similar). SPIES GUNS EVIL ORGANIZATONS HOT MEN ANGST HURT/COMFORT TOUGH LADIES I WANT IT NOW.

Daemul - I've been obsessed with this drama all the way back in 2006 when they first announced it. Then it fell apart and I was super-upset. But now it's back on and with the same cast. Female President and a Gigolo who is supposed to ruin her? Stop taking drama points from my id.

Oh My Lady - I adore Chae Rim, always wanted Siwon as a lead, and the story of a 30+ divorcee and single mother becoming a manager to a younger prickly super-star and the romance that ensues? Once again, my id exactly.

Road Number 1 - Korean War epic, love triangles, great cast, greater writer/director/production team. I can almost sense it. CRAVE.

EXCITED

Personal Taste - I am verrry excited about this. The premise sounds like wacky fun, I adore Lee Min Ho, I liked what little I saw of Son Ye Jin, and the recent stills assuaged my fears about SYJ's character. Bring it on!

Dong Yi - I love a good woman-centric traditional period drama. And this story of a servant who rises to become Queen and mother of a King looks completely gorgeous to boot. Plus, mmmm at the cast. Han Hyo Joo, Ji Jin Hee, Bae Soo Bin.

What's Up - I bet you are shocked that this isn't higher. To be honest, so am I. But much as I adore Im Ju Hwan and the writer, stories about musical college aren't normally my bag and the writer's last, Slingshot, was excellent but not my thing. Still, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited despite that.

My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox - apparently the Hong Sisters are working on this as their next drama. They are retelling the Fox legend. I doubt it will be as kickass and angsty as Nine-Tailed Fox with Kim Tae Hee and Jo Hyun Jae but I am sure it will be fun. I was less of a YAB fan than most of my flist but other than that I loved all their dramas. So bring it on. Especially if dramawiki's cast of Lee Seung Gi and Sandara Park is correct.

CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC

Bad Guy - After Queen Seon Deok, Kim Nam Gil can do no wrong and the story of an ambitious unscrupulous man climbing his way out of poverty is one that really appeals to me.

A Man Called God - Normally would be higher. I love revenge and action stories and adore Song Il Gook. But the promos with horrible clothes, 80s hair, and the fact that they starved Song Il Gook half to death have me, frankly, worried.

Prosecutor Princess - Dramas about lawyers = zzzzzz. But the cast is to die for (Kim So Yeon, Park Shi Hoo, and Han Jung Soo) so I can't help but be excited.

Cinderella Unni - I am a fan of only half the cast, it looks a bit too emo (and not in a way that appeals to me) and I am a fairy tale traditionalist. Cinderella's sister is supposed to be EVIL. This said, it does look pretty, has angst potential, and the cast (those I fangirl and those I don't) can deliver. Plus, the writer's previous drama was Robbers. Sluuuuurp.

Comrades - yet another drama set during the Korean War (they almost never get made and now come in pairs? Weird). I don't recognize the cast but the topic sounds interesting.

Faith - stars Lee Junki and Kim Hee Sun. A period medical drama. I love the cast and the period part but medical dramas have never been huge with me. We'll see though.

Kim Soo Ro - Period drama. Possibly with Ji Sung. How bad could it be?

Could It Be Fruit Candy - once again, know nothing except that it stars a Dangermousie favorite, Go Ara. OTOH, she was not able to save Heading to the Ground.

MEH

Paradise Ranch - I love Lee Yeon Hee but not enough to watch a whole drama because of her and this is going to star a lot of boybanders and who knows if they can act. Also, no idea on the plot.

Merchant Kim Man Deok - about a woman rising to be a merchant starring an actress who puts me to sleep. Pass.

Golden Fish - I literally know nothing about this one, so cannot be either excited or upset.

Falling in Love - see Golden Fish.

DISLIKED

Birdie Buddy - a drama about professional golfers starring the most wooden leading man since Dennis Oh? No thank you.

More Charming by the Day - it's a daily drama which is something I avoid due to lower budget, lesser actors and the 8-billion ep length.

Definitely Neighbors - see More Charming By the Day

Life is Beautiful - 50 episodes. 50? All about a family living on Jeju? No, no way.

Giant - an interminable modern drama with an interminable number of eps and a cast of nobody I like? Pass. Spend that time on more other dramas, please.
