Yup, I am feeling both chatty and self-absorbed.

So if there is anything you want to ask me, ask away and I promise to answer, fully and truthfully.

It has to be fandom or LJ or something else not personal RL info related.

E.g. ask me 'Who is the TV character who'd be the best one night stand?' and I will answer (Answer: if we are talking about just American TV, Dean Winchester from Supernatural, because he is hot, and he's had to have picked up some skills after all those pick-ups. And if it's a one-night stand, his issues don't matter). Ask me 'what is your address so I can come and mock your huge Bollywood collection?' and I probably won't say.

So, ask away.

1) If you had to interview ONE Bollywood star on ONE topic, who and on which topic? The topic can be broad, like "world politics" or more specific "his role in [movie title]".

2) If you could guest star in one dorama, what sort of a guest appearance would it be and of course, in which dorama?

3) Disappointment is sometimes inevitable for us fans . What can you see ending in a way that's not according to your liking?

I think that's enough. :D

1. Oooooh. That one is really hard. I think it would depend on whether I could give them truth serum (if I could, oh baby. I'd interview Salman on Aishwarya or SRK on the whole gay gossip thing). Since my access to super science is unlikely, I think I'd like to interview Aamir on politics. Because it would certainly be fireworks and interesting to listen to.

2. You mean I can't be the lead and smooch with pretty boys? I think I'd like to play the batty relative or friend generally. Someone ditzy and spastic. Mmmmm, a little walk-on role in 'Silence' would be great, as this is the one I am currently obsessed with and I'd get to ogle Vic Chou in close quarters. I don't think they have any roles that aren't either main or extras. Hey, I could be some batty person the heroine runs into in the slums or something.

3. Veronica Mars. I think it's going to get cancelled in S3 in mid-story. And mid-ship.

From: [identity profile] meganbmoore.livejournal.com
Ok, if Veronica Mars gets cancelled mid-season 3, I'm blaming you. Y'know, I was watching a Poirot movie the other day and a character perfectly descibed LoVe(in terms of her and her lover. (paraphrasing)"We belong together. We'll probably never be happy, but we love each other, and we'll be even more unhappy if we aren't together." I thought of LoVe immediately...

Oooo! Let's see!

What movie couple do you find the most romantic?

What's your favourite book adaption (to TV, film, stage, etc.)?

What's your favourite icon and why?

What movie couple do you find the most romantic?

This one is quite hard. Bollywood usually is the one that gets me there. And there it would be either Veer and Zaara (from Veer-Zaara) because they gave up everything for each other, and because the movie is full of gorgeous moments or Rehan and Zooni from 'Fanaa' because it's all about strugle of fighting love off and trying not to have it control you and failing.

Though actually, never mind. Probably 'Asoka' because the love has a star-crossed Shakeperean quality to it (they literally meet on the battlefield).

If we are talking not Bollywood, then I think it's 'Before Sunrise/Sunset.' It depicts the every day feeling of love and connection better than any other movie I've seen. Though Almasy and Katherine in The English Patient give them a good run for the money, in a very different way.

And if we are talking about older movies, a fairly obscure one 'History is Made at Night.' Foreign Asian movies, 'Turn Left Turn Right' which is a romantic fable that makes me melt.

If I had to pick just one, out of all of these though. It would be the German movie, 'Wings of Desire' and the couple in it (she is a trapeze artist and he is an angel who wants to experience humanity). If for nothing else, then for the last image, her anchoring him to the earth and his making her fly, on the ropes.

What's your favourite book adaption (to TV, film, stage, etc.)?

Of a book? Lord of the Rings, hands down. I have never seen anything that made me feel the way reading that book felt: terrified, carried away, alive.

If we are talking from a manga, it would be the live action adaptation of Mars.

What's your favourite icon and why?

That varies. Currently it's Image

I just love the shot and the little message (corny or not, I don't care). I have a thing for people's backs in photographs: expressive and mysterious at once, and I find that shot just lovely.

Wow, three answers for the price of one with the first (I think that Bollywood counts!). I asked about movie couples because there's quite a different feeling between standalone stories and serial stories in how the characters develop. And I agree with you about "Wings of Desire" -- wasn't the Hollywood remake (with Nicholas Cage?) a travesty?

As for the book adaptations, I agree with you that Lord of the Rings was astounding. I also love aspects of the Pride and Prejudice adaptations but my favourite of these is the 1980, not 1995, BBC version.

As for the icon, cool! I love the text with that one, as well. There's something so open to infinite possibilities when you don't see the faces!

Oh yes, the remake made me see red. They took such an incredible movie and made a TV-movie-of-the-week from it.

I prefer the 1995 P&P adaptation but I've seen the 1980 one so long ago, I am probably due for a rewatch.

Why do you like Sharon and Sharon/Helo?

Bob-just interested?

Date: 2006-08-15 09:28 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
Why I like Sharon...ooooh. Great question.

I liked G-Sharon because I felt so much for her: she feels she is human, she believes she is, yet her body, her nature she didn't want, is betraying her. I felt horrible for her and it's an awful position to be in. Yet she was so enthusiastic before.

I liked C-Sharon because you see her slowly evolve, assume feelings, humanity. I always found the tension between what you are brought up to do, your 'duty' and your emotions, new views a fascinating viewing and so this was.

And I like C-Sharon in part because I like Sharon/Helo. Watching her fall in love and deal with the enormity of it, was one of the pleasures of S1.

As to why I like H/S? Well, I really like Sharon (see above) and I really like Helo, who is probably the best guy in the show: caring, and straightforward. But not an idiot (love the scene where he tells Tyrol that he knows it would be easier if he didn't love Sharon but he can't not). I love the couple because it's about as impossible and star-crossed as you can get and yet their love proved strong enough to overcome the species hate, and made her betray her 'race' and him to love her even when everyone isolated him for it or even when she is a member of a species that wiped out his world. It's just the purity and strength of love under such circumstances. And they've given up so much for the other, and they care so much, in little and big things.

It's strong, and angsty, and romantic and complicated.

Which movie/tv show ending would you like to change and why?

Who has the most undeserved happy ending?

What fictional (books only) hero would you like most to hit over the head?

Who is in your opinion the most overrated character in fandom?

Which movie/tv show ending would you like to change and why?

The number one candidate for this is 'Ayashi No Ceres' (Ceres: the Celestial Legend). It's an anime based on a manga and is rather a grim fantasy. The end made me see red, as everything was wrapped up quite well and satisfactory and then, probably out of sheer sadism on part of the author, in a little epilogue we find out that the male half of the OTP (which went through incredible hell and high water to stay together) actually has only a short time to live (for reasons too complicated to explain in a brief post) and that he will even barely see the birth of his child. If you go back in my posts, you'll see 'i hate watase' tag just for that event. I think I frothed at the mouth. So I want a HEA for them (I calmed down later when it turned out in some authorized sequel book that three+ years he is still alive but still...).

Before they made the Farscape mini, it would have definitely be the end of S4. I literally screamed at the TV :) And I'd have said the Buffy ending (I wanted Buffy and Angel together) but by S7 I had rock bottom expectations. And I wanted Dark Angel to get a proper ending.

The end of Gone with the Wind always has me climbing walls, but it wouldn't be what it is without it. And 'Lady and the Tiger's' open ending drives me nuts, but ditto.

Battle Royale novel. I want to save all those kids so badly. It's a brilliant book I will never ever reread again.

If Silence dorama is going to go the way I am afraid it will, then it will join the list. I don't think 'A Love to Kill' dorama can possibly have a happy ending either, but I don't know yet.

Who has the most undeserved happy ending?

This one is hard because I am so canon-compliant. But those twits in 'A Tale of Two Cities.' Or the nitwits in 'Pamela.' And I always hated Marianne and Brandon ending up together in the book (though not the movie). I am afraid I was a M/W shipper :)

On TV, it would be Maria in Roswell. I liked her a lot the first two seasons, but when she turned into an egomaniac in S3 and trampled all over Michael's heart, I was annoyed (even if happy for his sake) he took her back so quickly.

Who is in your opinion the most overrated character in fandom?

Mind you, I like them both. But neither Kara (BSG) nor Spike (Buffy) is a minor fandom divinity they are.

1. Anjaam. I have no idea what Madhuri and SRK were on when they signed this. It has madhuri literally biting a chunk out of her brother in law's arm. Madhuri practicing therapy by hitting paralized SRK with a ping pong ball, SRK fantacizing about Mads with a giant python. And my fave Bolly scene ever when SRK asks Mads to marry him and she points to her sick huband and says 'I am already married!' so SRK pulls the guy's life support and asks 'Now?' Dreadful isn't even a word.

2. I would be the person giving advice and getting paid a gazillion. If it was an acting job, I'd want it to be a dorama, with a lot of cool clothes, close-ups, and hot men. Hmmm, as OTP. I never want to meet any of the men portraying my fictional crushes, but I'd make an exception for Jensen Ackles, because even if he turns out to be awful, I can still look at the sheer pretty and verify for myself he exists.

3. Lawrence of Arabia, Lord of the Rings Trilogy (which is one long movie), Asoka, Wings of Desire, History is Made at Night.

4. Chemistry, chemistry and chemistry.

In more detail, J/A is probably the best developed ship on TV I've seen. It's so gradual, so compatible, so angst-driven, so believable. She makes him dysfunctional and he makes her human, and both processes are necessary and painful. And he will betray the Universe for her, and she will help him not to.

V/L. Because I love the concept and the snark and how desperately Logan needs to love and how desperately Veronica needs to be swept away.

5. Ooooh. If we are being really simple, I'd say cheese. Any cheese. Or pomegranates or cherries. If we are being more specific, the crunchy shrimp roll made by Raku, a local restaurant.

6. Nope. :)

1. If you were trapped on an island with one fictional character, who would it be?

2. If you had a warning label, what would it be?

3. Which anime character do you think is the hottest?

Date: 2006-08-15 11:00 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dangermousie.livejournal.com
1. That depends on whether there was any chance I could escape. If I could, I'd pick Robinson Crusoe as that man had the art of survival on the island figured out.

If I was being less practical. Hmmmm. Hard. Aragorn. But only if I was Arwen. Super capable, good at survival stuff, very intelligent, and I wouldn't be bored at night :P

2. WARNING: Obsessive and overly-talkative.

Also, 'don't make her unscrew jars. Incapable.'

3. Hmmm. So hard. If I had to make a spot judgment, I'd say Aoshi. Though for anything over one night stand, I'd say Tamahome. Actually, definitely Tamahome. He's my anime boyfriend and all.

I can't wait to hear what you think of Basara, even if you ending up not liking it. It was one of the most popular titles in Japan while is was being published, but isn't as easy for US readers due to it's darker and harsher themes, in comparison to most shojo manga(I fear my beloved Crimson Hero will also suffer that way)

How far are you into Hana Kimi now?(the newest book is #3 on my read list ATM...newest George Perez Wonder Woman trade and Fruits Basket 14 are 1 and 2)

I have book 1, but haven't read it yet. It looks fun, though. And Ceres...yeah. In some ways, it's light in comparison to Basara, though(and actually, the anime is a bit lighter than the manga, IIRC. Plus, Shuro, who has 1 episode in the anime, is a near-regular character in the manga, and likely my favorite after Toya) Ceres has the prettiest opening theme ever...just yto be random...

And did I mention suidide attempts and catatonic states and attempted fratricide and selling siblings into slavery trying to steal your brother's woman and i'm so mad at you Asagi I can't believe I missed you and hands off Sarasa when she's all zoned out and half dead! *hem* certain events in the latest book require a club being applied to a certain character's head...

Heh...I will be surprised yet relieved should Shuri survived. What makes it work is that, while Shuri and Sarasa are a cute pair of travelling adventures who run into each other a lot, The Red King and Tara are brilliant and creative(in different ways) military leaders. On a personal level, their actions seem horrible and unforgivable, but looked at on another level, they're sound and necessary military decisions.

But, if Shuri dies, I DEMAND that they meet somewhere in the next 8 books(all that's left to come out here) and get overpowered by their feelings so Sarasa can be pregnant wth a son to eventually rule his father's kingdom and a daughter to grow up and marry Motomichi(I ship infants and unfertilized eggs...) who will be raised by Senju and Ageha(my secondary anfd almost as complicated 'ship) who is FORBIDDEN to die.

It's an obsession, but not an unhealthy one...
