Excitement of the geeky kind
Apr. 20th, 2005 08:09 pmYay!
I have gotten two kinds of tickets.
Firstly, I have bought myself and Husband tickets to the 12:01 showing of SWIII. In a theater I like quite a lot, though not my No. 1 choice, because my No. 1 choice is the glorious Loew's Uptown and none of Loews are selling SW tickets yet (why, I do not know. Don't they realize they will lose neurotic geekies like me who are too paranoid to wait?). But it is a theater with cushy seats and, more importantly, big screens (that is where
katranna and I saw Phantom of the Opera). Seeing that it's going to be over 2 hours long (please let it be at least 2:20, please), plus trailers, I don't see us getting home before 3am. And we have to go to work the next morning. However, it will be totally worth it, uselessness at work or not. I love seeing movies with psyched-out crowds. This is only a third midmight showing for me: Saw HP1 at midnight and RotK as part of the trilogy marathon (talk about a psyched audience!). I hope there will be folk in costume as it would be fun to see.
Secondly, I have gotten myself and
katranna tickets to this Saturday's showing of one of my very favorite Bollywood movies, Dil Se. At a gorgeous restored theater near my house. It starts at 2 pm, so
katranna, you'll have to drag yourself out of bed at a reasonable time. :D Obsession, Indian terrorism, and dancing on top of trains, here we come.

Date: 2005-04-21 04:07 am (UTC)I've lived here for 5 or so years. Love it.
I saw it then went to work. It was like coming to the office drunk ;).
I can sympathise. They had the LOTR trilogy screening there and it ended around 2 am. I had taken the day of the trilogy off, but I had to work the next day...it was like sleep-walking.

That is so beyond cool. I hope my crowd will be nuts (the one for LOTR certainly was. My fave was when PJ's first cameo came on, someone in the audience yelling "we are not worthy")
I wanted to see it at the Uptown for the first time as well, so I stopped by the BO today and the lady told me they had the phone ringing off the hook all day about ROTS (yay!) and they were going to show it but had no more details yet because Loews was still working out the details (whatever that means). I so hope they get it, as I'd rather see it there...
