Ohhhh, Tim/Lyla, you do something funny to my insides.

Seriously, someone is being very KIND to me. A church-going golden good girl who was doing things because she was supposed to, not necessarily because she wanted to do them, and is beginning to discover what she wants may not be what she is supposed to want. And a screwed-up bad boy best friend of her paralyzed boyfriend with enough issues to start his own magazine.

Oh YES.

I always go for the dysfunctional ones, don't I?

Side note: Lyla's "I have feelings for Jason so let me stuck my tongue down your throat" rationale for continuous make-outs made me lol and lol. I never thought anyone used the song "She reminds me of you" as a real-life excuse.

In other news, my incipient love for Matt became a full-blown adoration during that 'fight' with the rival team - of all the teen characters, he's by far the best guy, the most decent one. The way he takes care of his Grandmother and the way he doesn't feel secure in wanting things, and the way he is inarticulate. Oh. I want Julie to like him back because he should have everything he wants.

I adore Mr & Mrs Coach - this is the best, most realistic portrayal of a functional adult marriage I have seen on American TV.

I continue to dwell on the emotional poverty/desperation of this small town where high school football is the most important thing - it's such a proxy for everything else. You can dwell on it so you won't have to dwell on actual emptiness of life.

I am a bad person, but I am getting bored with Jason, even if he is a lovely person. Blahblah being a paraplegic sucks and it's a slow road to recovery. All very true, but I am not interested, thank you.

In conclusion: Tim/Lyla! Ahhh, American TV OTPs, I missed you!
